After I had relived my life, all was black. I realized that everyone I loved was alive, on earth. I wasn't, I was dead, but alive. All I wanted was to be alive and with the ones I love.

I could feel myself slipping back into the bad place again, who knew, dead people have feelings. Suddenly, all I felt was white-hot, blinding pain searing through my head like fire. Or a knife. It was agonizing. I screamed, holing my head in my hands. It felt like I was falling, through a rabbit hole. All through my childhood I wondered what Alice felt like when she fell, I understand now. It felt like there was no bottom, almost as if I was drowning, but it was faster.

Eventually, the falling stopped, and at the time I thought I was hallucinating, but looking back on it now, it was real life. I saw a small red room begin to form, like a sped up building montage.

"Ah, I see you have joined the dead? You are our last arrival of today. Please walk over to where the other dead are." A voice boomed, awakening me. I shook my head furiously, some out of fear, and the other part out of pure stubbornness. Before my brain knew what my legs were doing, I was walking over there, like a puppet.

"You should know by now, don't resist. We will make you do whatever we like." The same voice said, mockingly.

"I am Anubis, god of the Egyptian dead. You are the latest deaths we have, and by we I mean myself and Hades, god of the Greek dead. We have brought you here today to explain what happens after you die. You go through a two week initiation period where we test your mental and physical strength. If you pass, you will then be put through another few tests to see which underworld you are suited to. If you don't pass, your existence will falter."

The other "people" began whispering amongst themselves, and seeing as I was clearly the youngest there, I didn't know what to do. I decided on quietly standing in the corner. I shook my curls in front of my eyes so I wouldn't be noticed by anyone. I did see though, someone standing on the side of the room, by himself. He didn't look much older than me, but before I could get a good look at him, he turned and looked at me. I immediately looked down, blushing.

"Soon enough, and by that, I mean in the next 24 hours, you will find you have a gift. These are not your usual gifts, like cooking, or juggling, these are gifts that could be called powers. These can be anything from reading minds, to seeing how your loved ones are doing on earth, to manipulating people. Please, once you have found out your gifts, do not abuse them, as we have the power to take them away."

This set off another chain of murmuring.

"That is all I have to say, you will now go to your dorms, oh won't need a map. We have left each of you a note there explaining how the room works, and explaining what to do in the morning. You all need your rest, as we begin the testing tomorrow. Goodbye."
