Chapter 2: Childhood (Part 1)

3 years later

Two kids, a girl, and a boy are running around chasing each other in the courtyard of their parent's mansion, with a young jet-black haired woman overseeing them from the platform attached to the main house.

The woman said, "Naruto, Naruko, Jiraiya-sama is going to arrive in the village soon, and we don't want to be late in greeting him, especially with all that filth on you, right?"

The kids answered in unison, "Haii, Shizu-nee." The newly dubbed woman, called Shizune said again, "Now let's get you two little rascals cleaned up, and pick up Tsunade-sama from the hospital to greet Jiraiya-sama's homecoming."

The kids then took a bath together in the hot springs of their house and tidied themselves up in preparation for their godfather's visit from his traveling. Naruto, being the ever impatient twin hurried his sister who is still drying her long, beautiful tri-colored hair.

Ashley, now Naruko, smiled softly seeing her new brother's boisterous attitude and decided to just let her still wet hair down today in response to her impatient brother's hurrying.

Ever since she came into this world, during those 3 years Naruko hadn't encountered a lot of game content.

She focused on her new family– or, to be precise, on her calm, ever present surrogate elder sister, Shizune Kato and her charismatic but naive elder twin by a few minutes, Naruto.

All she had done is just daily quests involving activities in everyday life like helping with the housework at home, or running errands around the village.

For the record, she had learned with the skill 'Observe' that her godmother and godfather are one of the most powerful ninjas in the world and that with her and her brother's heritage, they might as well be the princess and prince of Konoha. 

That and Naruko is irked by the fact that even with her 'Hard Work Genius' perk, she is barely level 3, only leveling up thrice since born. She also got a new skill, 'Healing' for the fact that her godmother taught her the basics of medical ninjutsu and she and her brother always getting injured.

And the skill 'Observe' mentioned previously is apparently unlocked when her intuition reaches 50, enabling her to see another being's status.

The EXP she gained had only been best described as minuscule, for leveling up from level 0 to 1, she needed 50, and from level 1 to 2, it's 100, and so on. So far, she's at level 3 now, meaning that she needed 200 EXP to increase her level to level 4. And her progress? It's 100/200. Halfway through, she knows, but the quests just aren't coming at all.

For Naruko, the only good thing about quests is that at least other than the super minuscule amount of EXP, she also got a bit of her own pocket money that she earned herself.

As for the relationships she had formed with the people around her, it's safe to say that the strongest bond she has had so far is the one with her twin brother, and the second best one is with their ever-present surrogate elder sister, Shizune Kato.

Not that they are treated poorly within the village, for with their parent's status, let's just say that the villagers literally worship the ground they walk on.

As for the ones with her godmother and godfather, she is close to the former who dotes very much on the twins and has shown signs of overprotectiveness in things involving them.

But her relationship with the latter is best described as estranged, as said man is mostly caught up in his work as the best spymaster of Konoha. Not like her brother who seems to like anyone and everyone without a thought.

But she respects and blames him for that at the same time, knowing that he is protecting the twins, the only family he has left with all he can do at the cost of his time with them.

Naruko and Naruto held both of Shizune's hands as they exit the mansion and went on their way to pick up their godmother. When they arrived at the hospital, Naruto ran inside and directly went to the director's office, which just happens to be their godmother's.

He burst through the door and exclaimed, "Tsuna-baachan! Hurry up! Raiya-oji is going to arrive soon! We need to be at the gate before then!"

Tsunade, one of the three legendary sannins, held her forehead and sighed, "Why does Naruto resemble Kushina so much? If only he is like his father or even twin sister for that matter, then the number of injuries I need to heal the twins from would've reduced by a lot!"

Naruko, seeing her godmother's plight, shook her head with a small smile, and urged her brother to tone down his energy for a bit. Saying that when they saw their Raiya-Oji again, he can vent all his extra energy in their soon-to-be pitiful godfather.

As they got out of the hospital and walked through the village, the villagers around them began opening their stalls, as it is around 6 a.m. right now and they had to start their daily activities or else they won't be able to earn any money.

One guy saw Naruto looking interestedly at the fox mask he is selling and decided to offer it to him for free. But since both of the twins became tired of their treatment in the village a long long time ago, they decided to prove their worth by becoming the greatest ninja in the world that the village has ever seen.

And for that to happen, Tsunade taught Naruko and Naruto about the ninja arts ever since they can walk and talk, and also taught them good manners so that they will be a well-respected shinobi and kunoichi, which is a male and female ninja respectively.

So when the mask is offered to Naruto for free, he shook his head no and bought it with his own pocket money which is given to the twins by their godmother weekly. After paying for the mask, they resumed their walk through the village and soon arrived at the main gate of the village.

There, they greet the ninjas, chunin ranked, on guard duty, Kotetsu and Izumo who are known as the eternal guardians of Konoha. While the twins are playing around, Tsunade and Shizune chatted a little about the situation at the hospital and the reason that Jiraiya decided to return to the village now.

While playing around, the twins who have enhanced senses tried eavesdropping on the two women, but failed miserably as they were found out by their godmother who glared at them playfully, stopping the conversation as she saw a walking figure nearing the gate.

As the figure got closer to them, Naruko suddenly got an interface from the game she hadn't seen in a long time. With glowing silver words inside a black box invincible to everyone else, it read:

[Sudden Homecoming]

Today is the first day of the rest of your life!

Goal: Meet your estranged godfather that you and your brother have never met.
