"So you really won't tell me what's in your head?" She asked.
"I already told you what was up here. Now lets just focus on finding the damn tree." She won't stop pestering me. It's not in an annoying way, don't get me wrong. But what is annoying is that she doesn't believe me when I say you're the only light I've ever known. And yes I took the quote. My thoughts are all jumbled, and my brain is scattered around in my head in various pieces. The quote is all I can think about when I see her.
"What tree?" Shit.
"What are you talking about?" I try to cover up.
"You said we are finding a tree. Is that what you want to show me? A tree?"
When she says it like that it seems pointless to even look for. She doesn't know though. She hasn't seen the willow.
"It's not just a tree," I say, "it's beauty."
"It is beauty?" How can she not understand.
"You'll get it when you see it." I laugh.
She interlocked her arm with mine so we were conjoined. "Then I can't wait." She smiled up at me.
Now that she knows what it is, I really hope she understands. Maybe she is different than I made her out to be. Maybe she isn't the girl that I thought of. It scares me a lot. It scares me to think that I am imagining this girl that would fix me. But it scares me even more to know that she could be it.
"Harry." She said in a low voice, nearly a whisper. "Is that it?"
I looked up from the ground to find the willow.
It's leaves were swaying from side to side. It's long, thin branches touched the ground, creating a kingdom like dome in the inside of it.
The light of the sun gleamed over the tree so gracefully. So perfectly. The large branches holding it up sat low to the ground, then rose up as the tree grew. Alexandra and I walked into the tree and sat down on the branches together.
The leaves let in some light so the green glowed all around us.
"You were right," She said, "this is beautiful."
"Yeah." I agreed, not knowing what else to say.
"How did you find this place?" She asked, turning to me.
"When I was younger my sister and I used to go on these walks whenever we came here. One time we walked a long way out, and when we looked over, we saw this tree. It was a lot smaller when I used to come actually. It's crazy to see it has grown so much."
She looked up at the sun light, mesmerized by nature.
The leaves sparkled in between the sun rays, they were dazzling and dancing when the soft breeze picked up.
"Yeah it must be." She replied.
Alexandra's POV
This really was a beautiful place to be. It was almost perfect. It was everything that anyone would dream about.
"Thanks." Harry said.
"For what?" I looked back over to him. His head was down and his thumbs were twiddling in his lap. I grabbed his hand to distract him from it. I grabbed onto his forearm and pulled up his sleeve. His pale arm made the blue veins stand out a lot. I took my finger and traced every single one.
"For helping me." He replied.
I knew Harry was messed up. I knew he had problems. I knew that he thought of himself so lowly. I didn't help him. I didn't make him see things differently, or help him feel things better. I just was here. And somehow, that was enough.
