A bulky figure is standing in my doorway, its pitch black in my apartment and the hallway light is barely peeking in. I look and see my pillow was in the light, had he seen me? He walks into the darkness and I lose sight of him, I hear footsteps in my area but I still can't see anything. I walk away from the light and noise, and feel my kitchen counter. The footsteps get louder, he is close to me. I feel heat on my left arm and move to the other side of my counter, I feel around for my stove quietly hoping that I could use it to find my knife block. Something feels really cold on my fingertips I stand up and walk forward. My foot hits the oven door and makes a loud bang I run my hand over my counter and my knives fall over in a heap. I grab the first one my hand touches and hold it up and run to my door. My eyes absorb the light and I can barely see where the man is, he is looking for me in the kitchen. I take a step and trip over a big furry brick, I look down and see Lexi covered in blood on the floor, I put a hand over my mouth and push her body away before running downstairs. My footsteps are loud and I know his will be doing the same soon. I scream as I open the door and start crying as my emotions take over me. I stumble as I run but I don't stop, my feet are dragging on the ground and every ounce of adrenaline in my body is gone. The knife slips out of my hand and I start waving my hands in the air knowing I can't out run him and certainly can't beat him with a measly steak knife. I begin to walk out onto the road and a hand grabs my collar, "Annie stop!" I look behind me, eyes filled with tears and vision blurred to see Kiarra's boyfriend walking towards me. "Stop! I don't want to go home!" I scream as I hit him on the back, he carries me into the car and puts me in the back seat. Kiarra sticks her head out from her seat and frowns at me, "Annie, what's wrong?" I keep yelling at her but she just keeps frowning and tilting her head. A sudden pain goes through my head and Kiarra disappears. When I woke up everything was dark and it smelled like something was rotting. There was a crack of light peering through, and something heavy covering me. I pushed it off to the side and slowly began climbing up. I peaked through the crack and looked around me, there was a dim light down a long hallway and small puddles everywhere. The air was very damp, everything I touched felt moist. I pushed the rest of my body out and a sharp chill ran down my back. The ground around me looked slippery so I tried to hang on to something, my grip slipped and I hit the floor. I crawled until the ground felt dryer and slowly stood up, my ankles were weak and hurt with every step.
