After her mother's death, her personality changed, and she became quieter, smiling less. She focused on music and her education, only eating when she was hungry. When she was 14, she became an idol under the stage name Kei, although her real name, face, etc. weren't revealed. Jiyeon sang and rapped, becoming pretty well-known. She only came completely public when she was 17.
