{beyond's p.o.v}
Luna thankfully managed to doze off during the car ride to the airport.
She mumbled something about burgers in her sleep.
The taxi driver thankfully didn't try to make conversation during the journey which I was grateful for.
There wasn't much time to construct a plan of what to do after Luna was dropped off.
A false name wouldn't hold the police off for long and I wasn't planning on being framed for murder anytime soon
It had all happened so quickly- The sound of a window downstairs being smashed, shortly followed by our parent's blood-curdling screams.
I felt dreadful having to send Luna away to Wammies all on her own after such a traumatic experience but as of now, there aren't any other options.
The last I remember of the journey was my favourite song playing on the radio as I dozed off.
I woke up to the taxi driver coming to a stop. We had reached the airport.
Gently opening the car door, I stepped out and retrieved our luggage from the boot.
The sound of a seatbelt unclicking could be heard and then Luna slid out, sending a dark glance in my direction.
We both took our luggage and I thanked the driver.
The airport wasn't too busy but as a precaution, I kept my head down and we headed inside.
We checked in and made it through customs without a fuss, now sat in the waiting area by the gate.
Luna hadn't said a word to me which stung but I understood somewhat how she felt
It didn't take long for the intercom to announce that the flight was now boarding.
Luna grabbed her suitcase and documents and showed it to the lady at the tunnel.
I saw the lady ask her something and Luna pointed at me, the lady nodding and waving her through.
"Goodbye Luna. Im sorry.."
I yelled after her but she didn't look back. Not once.I hung around until the plane took off just in case she tried to run.
Once they had departed, I took my leave and exited the airport.
I hope she'll be okay.(2 years later)
{Luna}
Two years had passed since that traitor of a brother had shipped me off to this place.
At first, I resented him so much. But as time passed I grew a little less bitter.
Don't get me wrong- I still despise him but a small part of me wonders where he is now- or if he thinks of me.
Wammies wasn't too bad. L is one of the older kids here, almost an adult; He has similar interests to me and was the only person who was welcoming when I arrived. The only person I consider a friend here is him.
There is one other kid called Near that I tried talking to but nobody likes him. He's a little weird and sort of looks like a sheep. I'm not sure why but he dislikes me. Maybe because I'm friends with L?
I don't get along very well with any of the other kids here. Most of them forgot I existed but some picked on me, using my parent's death against me or calling my brother a murderer.
See- after Beyond fled, the police declared him as the main suspect of our parent's murder but were unable to find him. I was the only one in this world who knew he was innocent. Well, me, him and the murderer.
8 months ago, there was one kid in particular that got under my skin. She didn't like that I got the special treatment of having my own room when I wasn't in the top ranks. Normally, you get a roommate but I was a special case due to my history. That and the fact that nobody wanted me as a roommate.
Long story short, she had caught me on a really bad day during dinner and bought up Beyond. Next thing you know, I'd plunged a knife into her shoulder.
Since she'd started it, she was treated and then removed from Wammies. I, on the other hand, was sent to a psychiatric facility for 3 months before being allowed to return.
A sharp knock on the door pulled me away from my thoughts.
"Come in."
The door opened to reveal Watari. I shuffled myself on my bed so that I was facing toward the door.
Watari hesitated a few seconds before speaking.
"You're not going to like what I'm about to say but it's time to go outside. It's been 5 months since your return and you haven't been outside once."
Little did Watari know, I had snuck out a few times but I wasn't about to expose that.
I simply nodded in response knowing full well that protesting wouldn't get the old man to change his decision. Plus, as much as I hated to admit it, a bit of fresh air would do me good.
"I'll get dressed and go for a walk then."
Satisfied with my answer, he smiled softly and left, closing the door behind him.
There wasn't a large variety of clothes in my closet. It mainly consisted of comfy clothes and loungewear. I flicked through my tops before settling on a simple grey sweatshirt. I paired it with matching grey sweatpants and some sliders. Happy with my outfit, I took a deep breath and exited my room.
I gained a few weird looks from the people in the hallway. People were either shocked to see me or had forgotten I existed. I kept my head straight and my expression vacant. Most of them figured I'd been forced to go outside and ignored me, though a couple decided to slip a few rude remarks out as I walked past, reaching one of the doors that led to the grounds. It was the middle of winter which meant not many people were outside. I made a mental note to thank Watari for waiting till it was quiet to force me out. I didn't feel the cold that much so I didn't mind staying out here for a little while. The moonlight caused the frost-covered plants to glisten. It was rather beautiful.
If I'm being completely honest, I would most likely be in some exotic country right now, far away from this stupid place and all the stupid children. But L had convinced me to stay. He said he believes Beyond is innocent, but I'm unsure if he meant it or if he said it just to make me happy.
After standing around with my thoughts and the frost, I grew bored. My eyes landed on the small path that led into the woods surrounding the grounds of Wammies. The woods were small but nobody liked to go in there as far as I was aware. It was my way of sneaking out to shoplift candy when I wanted it since I'd been banned from the kitchen after the knife incident.
It didn't take long till I was 'deep' in the small woods. Something felt off though. I couldn't shake off the feeling that I was being watched.
Thud.
I spun around towards the source of the noise. Without hesitation, I made my way towards it. As I grew closer, I spotted a dark object on the ground. Upon closer inspection, I discovered it was a book. Picking it up, a tingle ran down my spine.
The cover of the book was plain and blank except for the white writing across the front that read "Deathnote".
Being a fan of books, I shoved the book into the pocket of my sweatshirt. Finders keepers, right?
I began to make my way out of the woods and back into the building, ignoring any comments or looks anyone gave me. Once I reached my room I threw the book onto my bed and tore off my outside clothes, slipping back into my pyjamas. The warmth of my bed had never felt more inviting than it was now.
The first 10-15 pages of the book consisted of rules. Very odd rules. The rest of the pages were just regular lined notebook paper. After reading the entirety of the rules I sighed. What kind of bullshit was this? Write someone's name in this book and they'll die? Is this a sick joke?
I shrugged and thought for a second. The chances of this being real were incredibly slim but part of me was itching to test it out. It couldn't hurt- right? After pondering for a minute or two, I settled on a boy named Jacob. He was a few years older than me and was a jerk to everyone. He wouldn't be missed.
I took a pen from my stationary holder and flipped to the first lined page.
'Jacob Mccauley. Death by choking on his food at exactly 6:05 pm'
I wrote while picturing his punchable face in my mind.
If, by some fucked up miracle, this did work then I'll be doing the whole of Wammies a favour.
I closed the book and slid it under my mattress. my spine tingled as the feeling of being watched returned but I shrugged it off and stood up, exiting my room and heading to dinner.(A/N)
The next chapter will contain a full list of the rules for the deathnote if you are interested in reading them
