James and Daisy had always been the infamous best friends in their school and college.
All they could remember is that they met at a park with their fathers and instantly became best friends.
Their school life was tremendous, they were the pranksters but also scored good marks in every subject.
Things were perfect between them. No one ever raised a question on their clingy relationship because everyone already knew. They were Harry-Hermione for each other. The perfect best friends without any benefits of close relation.
They never even thought about being in a relationship with each other and why would they have? They already were together all the time and never let any outsider come into their worlds. But during their second year in college, things started to change. Life was becoming hard and the bond started to scattered.
It was the last college party of their first year. The session came to an end and finals were close, just a week or two. Everyone was involved with someone in the party.
Making out in the bathrooms, kissing on the corners and corridors. It was past 8, the college function was over and it was mostly like an after party. Teachers and staffs left around 7.30 and it was the time of actual fun to began with lots and lots of alcohol and weed.
James and Daisy were standing near the food stall, feeding themselves and rest of their friends were hitting on vodka and weed. The music was loud and everyone was shouting.
Hey James, come over. Let's have some actual drink. Shouted Malik from the back.
Malik was James's good friend, they used to play football back in the highschool.
Malik had a huge crush on Daisy since their 9th grade but she never let him come close and made him felt more of an idiot. She knew that if she will let him come close, he will try to ask for dates and she wasn't very keen of him or the idea of dating him so she maintained her distance. She never actually dated anyone.
When in 10th grade, she started dating a guy named Patrick, James was so angry with her that he stopped talking to her and ignored her for more than a week and then obviously that was the reason behind her breakup and after that she never really bothered herself for finding a partner neither did James but he was always surrounded by girls who used to drool over him. He was the man of charm and a handsome face. No, I'm fine Malik. You go hit the shots. James shouted and gave him a wink.
Oh come on, don't be a pussy man. Let's get down or you're busy baby sitting your bestie. He smirked at him and let out a chuckle.
James felt a sudden hit in his heart. He couldn't figure it out that what it was? A humiliation, embarrassment or ego. He had never in a million years felt that before. He used to fight for Daisy and no one ever dared to speak about her like that, then why he felt a wave of discomfiture and obloquy.
Get over it Malik and get yourself a girl. Daisy turned around and said in a sarcastic tone.
Well you know what, I would actually love to have the drink Malik. James said and walked past her leaving her in a confused state.
He never has done that before. Has he? What's got into him? She thought but shrugged it off.
It was a great party and it was meant to be enjoyed so she walked near James and swiftly grabbed the glass and gulped the vodka. Her throat burnt and she coughed but soon took 3-4 shots more, continuously and everyone started shouting and cheering.
Soon after the 5th shot, she started feeling dizzy and sat next to James who was busy with Malik and an unknown girl.
Daisy never saw her before and the way James was talking to her made Daisy's heart scrunched and she felt a pit in her stomach.
He was smiling at her and it made Daisy uncomfortable and a bit jealous. She wanted to ask him to leave but her head felt thick and sight was getting blurred.
She never drank this much before and whenever they went to a club, she always had a beer or two and this time, it was hard on her. She felt like puking so she ran off to the bathroom as fast as she can.
As soon as she reached the wash basin, she started vomiting and her head was spinning. She washed her face and sat on the floor cursing herself for drinking this much.
Sitting there she thought of James, who didn't showed up or came to see her when she ran off like that. Was he upset? Was he too busy with that girl that he couldn't even come look at his best friend? He's such a jerk. She sighed and decided to leave without him.
That night when she returned home without meeting James, she felt bad but she was also angry.
How could he not come after me? What is so important that he didn't even called me back? Is he okay? What if he drank too much? Should I call him? She laid on the bed and thought of calling him but something was stopping her, maybe it was the jealousy or the fact that he didn't came back looking for her, neither called.
She let out a deep breathe and dialed his number.
"The number you're trying to reach is currently switched off, please try again later."
What the hell? She shouted and threw her phone aside thinking of how irresponsible he could be? She was in tension but the anger made her not to try to reach him again.
She was drunk, and night was long, so she slept.
