Rachel led me to a pretty big practice room. There was a micphone, a guitar amp, a piano, a music stand, a table and some chairs. "You can stay here if you want." Rachel said, patting my arm. "I know that you have social anxiety. If you don't want to speak or do anything that makes you nervous, then you don't have to do it. No one is forcing you. I promise. Ok?" "Ok. Thank you" I replied in a small voice.
Rachel said that the girl who is going to show me around will be here in a minuete. Rachel then left the room.
30 seconds later, the door opened again. A girl with dark, boy-short messy hair, black trousers and shirt, black glasses and a crooked grin walked into the room. "Hey. You must be Jay." She had an American accent. "I'm SL, but my nickname is Teddy. Feel free to call me Teddy!" She said, as she pulled up a chair and sat next to me. "I really like your shirt by the way!" She nodded to my dark blue Hero Is My Middle Name shirt with a pineapple on it. (Its from Spongebob the Musical. Deal with it". "Thanks." I replied in a small voice, smiling.
We sat in awkward silence for 30 seconds. "So. What music do you like?" Teddy asked. "Well..." I went red. Liking musicals isn't really cool music. "I like Mary Poppins and The Great Comet. They are both musicals." Teddy piped up. I looked at her and said "Mary Poppins is amazing. I like the Broadway production. Gavin Lee is so talented." I say to her. She grins at me and says "Another Gavin Lee fan!" She then says "I just like musicals in general. "Me too. I love them" I reply, grinning.
I think I've found a new friend.
