Wins' POV
I didn't want to leave her there but she would have to figure out this next step on her own.
I didn't like it but I knew was how it had to be.
My phone rang and I answered it through handsfree mode on speaker and turned down my radio music, "Yeah mom?"
"Winston where are you? Everyone is here waiting to order," she said while I turned the corner into the parking lot.
"I'm coming inside now, love you," I hung up on her and strolled inside the IHOP. I didn't stop and introduce myself because I could clearly see my party.
My sister jumped on my lap I scooted inside the booth and place both of them on either side of me.
Sitting across from Phe and Nix my mom sat placed on their side of the table.
They each began rattling off their orders to the waitress who tried to get everything down quickly before regurgitating everything we said to her back.
"Mom you wanted us here so let's talk, we're all here," I began not wanting to wait until our food came.
"Well, some things are changing now since we have Phe and Nix moving in with us and since Malia is staying with us for-"
"Just for a month, she said her guardian should be done furnishing their new house by then," I spoke.
"She's welcome to stay longer," my mother loved Malia but I didn't want her to get too attached to Malia living with us.
Damn, I forgot she didn't eat yet. I'll call her when she's almost done with her nails.
"The real reason I invited all of you here is because things- well we are changing as a family. We went from four to now seven in a few weeks. I know it won't be easy adjusting here with all these changes but I wanted you guys to know that I'm currently dating," she smiled, she wanted to say something else but closed her mouth before she could.
"I'm happy for you Aunt Eve I think you should be having fun out there," Phe smiled at her as plates were placed in front of us. My throat ran dry, were any of these men serious prospects or just flings? My mother was never good with men, my father was a prime example. I never knew if their relationship was done or not. Whenever he came around she changed and it wasn't for the better. I didn't like the fact that she'd be out here dating but at least she wasn't out here dating my father.
Trying to keep the venom out of my voice I spoke, "Is it serious? Is that why you're telling us?"
"Winston its not like I'm getting married or engaged soon no I don't think it is serious with any of them-"
"Any of them? As in, you're dating more than one person right now?"
"I'm a grown woman, I'm not dating anyone exclusively so yes it's more than one person that I am seeing right now."
I ate my pancakes in silence with my phone on Do Not Disturb mode.
"Winston, aren't you going to the carnival later? Phoenix and Ophelia you should go with him." The girls chimed up saying they wanted to go too.
"Girl you guys can come with me."
"You don't have a date tonight?" I had an attitude and she knew it but said nothing.
"Tonight no, I'll let you guys know when or if I'm going out."
Looking down at my phone, Malia's name popped up on my screen showing she called more than once.
"What's happening Malia?" I finished eating my pancakes, "I didn't pick up any food before we left, what do you want from IHOP? Do you need me to come and pick you up from the nail salon?"
