I stood there staring as Charlotte slept. She looked peaceful, and not dangerous at all. She stirred in her sleep and rolled closer to the edge of the couch. Her hair fell in front of her face and I moved my hand closer to her face. I gently brushed the hair out of her face and sighed.

"I'll be back later." I mumbled.

I walked out of my apartment building and headed towards the alley between the old pub and the movie theater. I know Charlotte would kill me for this, but I had to know more. I needed to know more.

I entered the ally and made sure no one saw me walk in. I grabbed my bluetooth ear piece out of my pocket and clipped it onto my ear. If anyone saw me or called me crazy, I could just say I was on the phone. Yep, definitely a smart plan.

I stood in front of the brick wall and took a deep breath. I knocked on the bricks and stepped back. I turned to look at the entrance of the ally and when I turned back, Emith was leaning against the wall.

"Well, didn't think you'd be coming back. Not without Charlotte at least." He said.

"I'm not going in. I just want answers." I replied.

"Answers to what?" He asked.

"My parents." I answered.

"Oh." He mumbled.

Emith looked as an old man crossed in front of the ally. As soon as the old man was out of sight, Emith explained.

"Your father was Theodore Woodlock. The was an amazing fighter and a loyal soldier to the King and the advisers during war eight." Emith started.

"War eight?" I asked.

"We're not the most peaceful society." He replied.

"Ok. Continue." I said.

"The King and several advisers were found dead the night after the war was over. All soldiers swords have different blades, so we know whose it was. It was your father's sword. He was questioned but he didn't have a solid alibi. We all just thought he was the one who did it. As it turns out, he was with your mother and didn't want to get himself or her caught. You're mother was Alessia Hallo. She was just a normal human but her and your father fell in love." Emith looked to me to make sure I understood.

I nodded and he continued.

"Someone confessed the the murder and we realized your father was wrongfully punished. We headed out to find him so he could come back home. We found him in a hospital with your mother as she was giving birth to you. We waited until the birth was over, but your mother had already passed. The rest of the advisers killed your father for breaking an important rule: we can never fall in love. A few weeks later the whole dimension heard about you and we named you the Lost Boy. A new King was crowned and we all moved on. That is, until Charlotte was chased out." Emith explained.

"Why did Charlotte get cast out?" I asked.

"That my friend, is not my story to tell." He replied.

"Well thanks." I said.

"Where are you headed off to?." Emith asked.

"Probably a bar." I shrugged.

"Count me in." Emith laughed.

I walked through the streets with Emith by my side.

"Can they see you?" I asked quietly.

"For now." He answered.

We entered the bar and all eyes were on us. Girls whispered and giggled while the males all scoffed and turned away. Me and Emith sat at the bar and ordered a few drinks. We both downed them all pretty fast so we kept ordering more.

"Alright guys, go home. It's six in the morning and you've been drinking since midnight. I'll call a cab for you guys." The bartender said.

"No need. We'll be fine." Emith said.

We exited the bar and started walking back to the ally. It was silent outside, the only sound being out footsteps against the concrete and the occasional squawk of a bird.

"It's been fun man. Think about what I said the other day about coming home." Emith said.

"See you around." I replied.

I walked out of the ally and Emith went back home. Should I have gone with him? No, I have to help Charlotte. She'd kill me if she even just saw me walking around the alley.

"What the god damn hell Eliot!"
