"How was the tour, Sunny?" Janey's voice filled my ears when I walked into my house. I smiled, taking off my shoes and sitting next to her on our green couch.

"It was great!"

"Did you meet any new friends?"

"Yeah! I think two. But I'm sure one!" I giggled softly, practically giddy with excitement.

"That's great!" Janey beamed, "What's their names?"

    "Jack and August."

"Ooh, August! What a nice name!" I smiled.

   "That's what I told him!"

    We laughed.

I don't think I've ever talked more than I did at dinner that night. My mouth was a machine gun; firing and firing. I blabbed to my parents about Auggie and his pretty name and his smart mind. And I blabbed about Jack and how he looked like Peter Parker and how he stood up for Auggie for no reason, and how I knew we were going onto be good friends.

I had hopes for this year. Big ones.

As I slipped on my pajamas (they were white and fluffy with little penguins on them), I thought of how I was going to approach Jack and Auggie the next day. I didn't want to be too forward, but I didn't want them to think I didn't like them.

Ah, I'll figure it out when the time comes. I wasn't the type to worry.

I curled up on my bed next to Janey, reading her her favorite book: The Giving Tree. It was a nice book, it was just the picture of Mr.Silverstien that scared me on the back of the book. It had ever since I was little.

As I lay in bed with the lights turned off, the taste of toothpaste still fresh in my mouth and my arms wrapped around my stuffed wolf Wiley, I drifted to bed.

And I had high, high hopes for tomorrow.
