Her parents held her snugly in their arms as the mothers best friend, Lisa Evans, smiled widely with tear filled eyes. She'd been beside her best friend, coaching her the whole way through her delivery. After all, Lisa had four kids of her own! Carly, Christopher, Scott, and Shanna. Michelle Cooper and her husband, Jonathan Cooper, had given birth to a beautiful baby girl at Massachusetts General Hospital on October 19th, 1994. Her name was, Lexi Elizabeth Cooper.
"Lisa! Come here." Michelle said with a generous smile.
The day was just so perfect.
"Look at that sweet angel baby!" Lisa cooed as she took baby Lexi into her arms and swaddled her snuggly.
"Lexi, meet your godmother, Lisa." Michelle said as she bubbled with bliss.
Lisa's eyes shot up at her best friend since third grade.
"Are you serious chelle!?" Lisa smiled with tears streaming now!
"We decided this a long time ago! That you'd be our baby's godmother. We know she'll always be another one of your babies to you, and that's why we trusted you with this title." Michelle smiled before hugging Lisa tightly.
"Oh I can't wait to tell the kids! They're so excited to meet you little lady!" Lisa poked the baby's soft pink button nose.
"Go get em! Come on Lis, bring the kiddos and Bob! Get everyone in here to meet our little nugget before our families get to town!" Jonathan boomed with excitement and generosity.
"Ohhhh okay! This is going to be so wonderful I can't stand it!" Lisa sang with excitement!
"I'll be right back!" She said as she handed baby Lexi back to Michelle and waved them goodbye for now.
A few hours later, Lisa arrived back at Mass Gen with the rest of her lovely family!
"I can't wait to meet her!" Carly and Shanna bubbled, barely able to keep their voices down in the hallways.
"She's just so precious, Bob you've gotta see her!" Lisa added in as she squeezed her husbands shoulder.
Her two sons, Chris and Scott, didn't take too much interest in meeting the new baby girl. Babies just "weren't their thing."
They arrived in room 104, knocking quietly as Lisa poked her head in to make sure all was okay to enter. Michelle waved them in with a big smile as Lisa and her family flowed quietly into the room. First, was the girls, Carly and Shanna who couldn't contain their quiet squeals and 'awwwws'. They took turns holding her while sitting at Michelle's bedside, inspecting Lexi's little brand new self.
"Mom look at her she's so sweet!!!" Carly hugged Lexi with heart eyes.
Shanna towered over Carly, inspecting Lexi's little fingers as Lexi instinctively gripped hers tightly.
"I think she likes you girls already!" Michelle smiled before Carly handed Lexi around the room.
Next was Scott, who gradually had become eager to meet this new talk of the family and see just how cute she really was.
"Oh my god she's so tiny!" Scott exclaimed in shock as if he'd never seen a baby before!
"Chris come look at this!" Scott smiled in amazement as he called over to his older brother.
Chris reluctantly came, he couldn't be bothered by this uproar, mostly because he was stuck in a book. He closed his book and stood up from the corner chair, walking over to his crowd of family! Chris, who was only 12 years old at the time, timidly took a peek at the little baby in his moms arms. Curious, Chris stepped closer and closer, cracking a small smile here and there at Lexi's baby noises and coos.
"Can I hold her?" He quietly asked to everyone's surprise!
"Of course honey!" Michelle giggled at how sweet and shy Christopher always was.
Lisa instructed her oldest son how to hold a baby as she gently transferred Lexi from her arms to his,
"Okay, now make sure you support her head Chris, and just make her feel warm and cuddly, you've gotta hold her close to you so she feels warm." Lisa reminded gently as Chris did exactly as she said.
"Look at you." He smiled as Lexi opened her baby eyes.
"Oh my god Michelle she opened her eyes!" Lisa covered her mouth before taking out her phone and snapping a picture.
"Chris honey, you're the first person she's opened her eyes for since she's been born!" Michelle rang with happiness.
"Huh.. you're kinda cute." Chris admitted to the tiny bundle in his arms.
Lexi cooed before snuggling into the crook of his arm, holding onto his hem of his jacket and staring up at him.
"Awwww Chris! She likes you buddy!" Jonathan patted his back.
"Look dad! Look how little her fingers are! They're so tiny and cute! And her little eyelashes! And her nose! She's just so small!" Chris exposed his adoring side as he reveled in the small details of the new baby.
"Aww Lisa, I think I just lost our babygirl!" Michelle joked.
"Do you like your Uncle Chris darling?" Bob poked at Lexi's tiny hands before Chris looked up with a displeased face,
"Ew I don't wanna be her uncle, Dad!" Chris responded, causing the entire room to giggle!
"I DO!!!" Scott chimed as he volunteered the title!
"Michelle can I be Uncle Scott!?" He begged his godmother before she nodded with laughter and hugged him tightly!
"Well now, we have Uncle Scott, the Godparents, girls? Do we have Auntie Carly and Shanna?" Michelle asked, knowing what their responses would be!
They squealed in agreement and jumped up and down.
"Well that settles it then! We have Uncle Scott, Auntie Carly, Auntie Shanna, and what would you like to be called love?" Michelle asked Chris who was gently rocking little Lexi in his arms.
"Chris, just Chris." He simply said with a shy smile.
Chris was always a simple boy, never needy, and loved to be as close to his mom and family as humanly possible.
And with that, Lexi came into the world with the closest, most loving family she'd ever imagine!
