SWEAT BUILT UP on her forehead, each breath getting heavier and heavier. Taking one deep breath in, wiping the sweat off with her arm, she continued bouncing around the punching bag, hitting it left and right with her black boxing gloves. Usually Happy was her punching bag, but today he had more important work to do, so she decided to exercise alone in the gym.

He and Stark liked to call it training, but she wasn't learning much besides how to build muscle. She'd asked to be trained in hand to hand combat, but they kept putting it off, focusing on the real threat; her powers. It was a mystery to them all, especially Stark who seemed more concerned about it than Arlyn ever was. She'd always had steady control over it, never worried whether it was a threat or not, or even where it came from.

Somebody walked into the room, and Arlyn stopped the bag from swinging; it was Manon.

"Can you join me in my office? I'd like to show you something."

In between heaving breaths, Arlyn nodded, adjusting her workout bra before heading towards her gym bag, packing up her stuff; a shower could wait till she got home.

Arlyn finally arrived in her office, and Manon seemed unreadable; Arlyn wasn't sure if she was more excited or worried about whatever her findings were.

Arlyn sat down in a spare chair as Manon pointed towards her electronic screens. "Based on some of my recent research I've discovered that your powers actually have similar components to stars."

Arlyn blinked a few times, trying to process that information. "So...what does that mean?"

"That means that it is very likely that you draw your power from a star."

Arlyn's mouth hung open lightly. "H-how is that even possible?"

Manon sighed, shrugging lightly. "Not sure, it's still possible it's hereditary, your biological mother or father could've had these powers too, and they were simply passed on-"

"I don't wanna know who they are."

Manon nodded. "It's alright, you'll probably never need to find out. I looked around myself and...there's no evidence or traces of whoever gave you up."

Arlyn tensed up. "Oh...okay...but...all stars die."

Manon's eyebrows furrowed. "Yes...but that takes billions of years so-"

"But if I'm drawing my power from it, seemingly at an alarming rate these past few years, how...what if it dies faster than it should?"

Manon shook her head. "There's no need to worry about that now. Worst case scenario is..."
