The gang is going on a road trip to sightsee in Oklahoma because Darry is off work that week. Johnny and Dallas didn't want to go because they didn't want their parents to find out because they already hit them so much.
Darry said that they could "stay at his house" until they got back from the trip. Johnny and dally both said yes because they didn't want their parents hitting them even if it was for only a couple days.
It was around 11 o'clock so Johnny knew the gang had left so he started walking to dally house so they could walk to the Curtis house...
