Pitch black, a few street lights and a strong howling of wind. The days were long and the stars shon so brightly in amongst the midsummer nights sky. After taking a fairly long walk on the beach in my socks, I decided to call it a day and put my converses back on, wandering out into the quiet streets of Arizona; letting the cold wind hit my bare face.

A wash of regret fulfilled me as I had foolishly decided not to wear layers this morning, but who could blame me? The weather here was deception and it was a reminder that summer was soon to be over. The streets were almost dead quiet, an eerie feel and no taxis in sight. I decided to walk further along, following the colorful lanterns that hung at the top of the electric lines, but soon found myself completely lost.

I had never been fond of the dark; ever since I was a kid. Panic rushed inside of me so I leaned the edge of a wall near the sidewalk in attempt to call someone, but to my unfortunate luck there wasn't a chance I had any signal. The warmth of my thin leather jacket was all I had to keep me heated throughout as my hijab moved wildly whilst I held it in place. Howling, the wind blew vigorously and I jumped in fright, scanning my surroundings.

Brushing myself off, I continued to walk towards an old, what looked like an abandoned restaurant that read 'Le Grande Orange' towering above a chestnut door, along with several missing letters. Before I knew it, I heard the sound of an engine come alive as a vechile passed by my side. All of a sudden an unknown, rock-hard object flew through mid air and hit my shoulder as I watched it fall onto the concrete floor.

"Ow!" I muttered sharply, "Goddammit."

My eyes darted down to identify whatever had hit me as I rubbed the side of my sore forearm for comfort. My eyes lingered around the floor to see a flashing electronic device laying mysteriously on the ground, very much resembling a sat nav.

A beaming fluorescent light fixated on my back, creating a shadow in front of me. My body stiffened in agitation but my brain registered to keep on walking. Don't look back, I kept telling myself. If I was going to get kidnapped then this was probably it. In utter fear and confusion I began mentally breaking down with thousands of disturbing thoughts invading my innocent mind.

My heart beat escalated and anxious sweat formed in the palms of my hand. The distressing thoughts caused my anxiety to fluster and increase within every excruciating and intense millisecond. It felt light this road would never come to an end.

I could make out the car following behind me smoothly and slowly so it was then I began to worry insanely inside. This was surely going to turn out to be like those films where the girl gets followed by a car and the murdered painfully in an alleyway. My imagination was testing me.

Unthinkingly, I quickly swivelled my head around to see an incredible beautiful matte black chrome car with the front lights aiming directly at me. But how the car looked was the last thing on my mind. Ya Allah this would a great time to provide help. I silently prayed, muttering all the dua's I knew under my breath.

Widening my eyes, I swallowed hard in realization that the car had finally caught up at my side and the tinted screen rolled down slowly as I awaited death. Instead, my body froze.

My eyes came into direct contact with a man in what looked like his early 20's with piercing black eyes glaring up at me. You call almost make out the emerald green specks glistening in them as he sat in the car comfortably, acknowledging my presence and me, his.
