The silence that filled the room was scary and loud.
A boy and girl sat there, words trapped in their heads, not able to escape through their mouths.
So none of the two said a word, they just sat, engulfing themselves in the silence.

Clay didn't know what to say... he thought Jeff was just delivering pizzas, doing his job.. but he wasn't.

He was trying to save the girl he loved.
The girl clay was beginning to love too.

Skye noticed clays silence and inability to speak, but ignored it, as she couldn't either. Someone finally knew the truth that she'd been trying to hide for months and months on end.
To make it worse, it was clay.
Clay who knew.

The only boy Skye felt she could ever love after Jeff.
After all, before clay, Skye thought she would never love again.

Then finally, after what seemed like hours.. the quiet was broken.

"Skye.."

He was speaking to her.

"I'm.."
He couldn't say he was sorry could he?
After all, wouldn't she be mad if he did! Of course he was sorry for the loss of Jeff, but what Skye needed right now wasn't sympathy, or a reminder of what happened...
It was a friend.

And god dammit he was going to give her a friend.

"Let's get ice cream!"

She was confused.
What? Ice cream? No.. sympathy?
Determination laced in clays voice, telling her all he wanted was her happiness.
It made her smile.

He wasn't going to swallow her in sadness, he was just going to help her forget, just for a moment, everything that happened.

So she got up out of the seat she'd been sat in for what seemed like days and followed clay out of the house and to the old ice cream shop down the street at the start of the main town.

She ordered a strawberry, clay ordered a chocolate.

Then they sat outside the pink and white shop, in silence once more.
But it wasn't bad silence, it was a sound that was beautiful and peaceful, calming Skye as she knew she wasn't alone.
For once in her life Skye didn't worry, she didn't fear and she didn't remember.

Ever since jeffs death no one had been there to calm her, to make her happy, but clay was there.

Skye began to remember jeffs funeral, most of the school had come and no one really noticed she was there,
No one could help her through her grief.

But in the corner of the room Skye remembered a happy face, clays, as he went around, gathering all the courage he had and telling people that Jeff wouldn't want them to cry.

Skye also remembered the way he looked at Hannah.
And that's when Skye had an epiphany,
She wasn't the only one going through a loss.

Clay was hurting too.
