I stiffened by back and clenching my hands into a fist. This was a dire situation in which I couldn’t get out of.

“Adeleine, it is best for your health to come with me,” the person said as they held the gun, pushing it into the back of my neck. It hurt, but there was no use in screaming in pain.

“Can I at least ask a favor?” I questioned, trying not to reveal my anxiousness. My palms shaking in my fist.

I could hear the person behind me clench the gun tighter, I could tell that they were hesitant to answer me.

“If you are wondering what happened to your mother, its best you come with me,” the stranger said, grabbing my wrists and pulling me close, leading me to a motorcycle. I was shocked. Was this the person that did something to my mother? Where was she? Was this person the reason why assassins were storming my home? What else were they capable of? The thoughts made my head cloudy, so I started to stumble. The stranger suddenly clutched my right arm and sat me down on the seat of the motorcycle. They pulled out a piece of rope and tied my hands behind my back.

“I can’t hold on when my hands are tied behind my back,” I managed to get out before they put their hand over my mouth, silencing me at that very second.

“You’ll see,” they said, almost scolding me.

They sat down in front of me, grabbing a larger piece of rope and tied it around the two of us so my chest was pressed against their back with no room in between. They started the motorcycle and started to drive away from the wreckage. I turned my head, seeing the wreckage get further and further away. My mother’s wedding ring was left there and I still have no idea where she could be. The thought of my mother, possibly dead brought be to tears. Tears started to form in my eyes and I started choking down on my tears, trying to conceal my emotions the best I could.

“It’s best you let all of your emotions out right now, girl,” the stranger said to me, almost emotionless.

I took a big breath and let my tears fall down silently. Samas would not want to see me like this, neither would my mother. Although emotion is allowed in the capital, citizens aren’t allow to exert a large amount of emotion, such as I had. I felt my youth, like it was climbing up from my throat. I was a menace to my city already by carrying a “weapon”, even to hold a piece of information that even talks about weapons. How did my step-father even get into the capital with that material like that? There must be some reason.

Before I could think anymore, I was snapped into reality when I could see that we were approaching a city. There was no way that this was Diamandis. From here, I could a large amount of wreckage around the outskirts. It seemed like there used to be farmland like we have in Diamandis, but it had died and was replaced fallen buildings, which seemed to be houses. It was deserted from what I could see.

As we approached closer, the stranger started to slow down. They turned down a street, which was sided by buildings that seemed to use to be tall building, maybe for a business or a commercial area. The glass buildings had begun to fall over. The few pieces of glass shined the bright sunlight in my face, causing me to close my eyes. By the time I opened my eyes, we had reached a large building, a skyscraper which was damaged beyond belief. It would be seem almost difficult to even work, or perhaps live in this damaged building.

The stranger untied the rope, which held us together. I could finally breathe. They grabbed by arm and led me to the double doors of the building. It was nearly impossible to look inside because of the dust that had accumulated on the glass. They entered a password into a small keypad that was right next to the door. The doors opened slowly, almost creaking. I closed my eyes because of the painful sounds. They led me inside, my hands still tied. My eyes still had been closed.
