*~JUST AN AVERAGE DAY~*
5:59. Five more seconds aaaand... 6:00
Everyone's alarm goes off simultaneously, accompanied by their tired groans. I get up already since I've been awake for at least half an hour. Also, I want to get firsties on the bathroom. Thirty minutes, a lukewarm shower, an outfit I've worn a hundred times, and I'm downstairs eating breakfast already. Mom's already there, starting on the eggs and bacon, and greets me with her usual 'Good Mornin', darlin'.
And yes, that was a country accent, courtesy of living in West Virginia. Fortunately, I've learned to slightly eradicate my accent by watching British TV shows.
Right about now Iris is looking for something. "Who took my hairdryer?" she hollers.
Calla should come down about now. And cue Mom's disapproving look. "No child of mine will be caught dead in a skirt that short." Calla groans, then drags her feet back up stairs, and will probably come back down in jeans and a bikini top or something else outrageously Calla.
Lily is skipping down the stairs and gives everyone a cheery smile and good morning. Then proceeds to make some tofu or whatever vegan friendly nourishments we have available.
How do I know all this is happening? No, I'm not psychic, though I'm pretty sure I could pass off for one. No, its just that everyone here is pretty...predictable. Some people say that I pay too much attention to everything, but I think its the other way around; they don't pay attention to anything around them. And another thing, people don't-
Hold on, 3,2,1.
"Guys!" Reed's shout echoes throughout our age old house, "You used up all the warm water!"
"That's your fault, dingus!" Iris yells back as she jogs down stairs with dripping wet hair. And yes, apparently, our town hasn't discovered good insults yet. Its quite pitiful.
"WHERE is my hairdryer?" Iris asks.
"On the living room coffee table, just like yesterday...and every other day before that," I answer.
"You know, Rose, I really don't need your sass right now. Today is a very important day for me," she informs me.
"Oh,yes," I answer sarcastically, "you mean just like how yesterday was a 'very important day'? And the day before that, and the day before that." Iris rolls her eyes and stomps off to the other room. "Your welcome, by the way."
"Rose, be nice." Mom scolds, "Okay, kids, time to get going."
Lily, who has been silent and reading a newspaper this whole time, and I get up from the table. Calla comes down about three steps, then goes back up when Mom yells at her to change again. And about now, Reed comes running down and complains about not eating breakfast, but shuts up when Mom gives him two bags: one with his lunch and another with his breakfast so he can eat while driving.
We all go outside and pile into the two cars we have. Lily usually drives our old, barely functioning Volvo and drops off Reed and I to school, then goes to her job at the library. While, the other three take the equally old and ready-to-break-down-any-second truck. Mom gets dropped off at her job at the hospital, Calla goes to her job at some clothing store two towns over, and Iris goes job-hunting.
"Hurry, it up kids we're running late today!" Mom shouts and honks her horn as Calla, Iris and Reed rush out the door. Reed jumps in the passenger side of the car, while still trying his shoe and motions for us to start driving.
"Hey, Rose?" Reed asks.
"No, you can not copy my homework."
Yeah, this is gonna be a boring day.
