Chapter 5

"Hey, sweet cheeks," Jeff hollered at me for what seemed like the hundredth time as he strolled past my table in the cafeteria with his teammates from the football team, Maksimillian and Aleksandr included.
He winked at me as they went to their usual table. "Looking good there, Volkov."
"Fuck off, Maks!" Erik rose with his fists clenched, but I pulled him back down in his seat. We didn't need more confrontation.
"Erik, no. Let him go."
Maksimillian back away, hands raised in mock surrender. "No harm done, cuz."
My boyfriend had been edge for the past thirty minutes with a vengeful temper to knock anyone through their teeth just for looking at me. And it was all because Maksimillian forced me to wear this stupid, revealing uniform. The blue skirt was too short I had to ask Nina for a pair of spandex because she happened to be a part of the cheer squad as captain, and the top fit too snuggly, exposing my midsection.
"No need to act animalistic," Nina said lightly. "You should be proud. In all seriousness my cousin looks hot."
"Don't forget why she has to wear that stupid thing," Mikhail made aware. "This Russian definitely has a liking for you. He's totally taken you out of your comfort zone, Kora."
"Well," I appealed, "I hate him. And this fucking outfit. I feel like I'm too exposed here. It's so fucking small."
"It's not small," Nina said. "I got you a medium. You're just..."
She trailed off. Her brows scrunched in thought. She was trying to find the appropriate word to describe me.
"Ah." She snapped her fingers at me. "You're just thick."
"That's basically calling me fat," I amended.
"No I didn't." She poked her fork in my direction. "Stop putting words in my mouth. You're beautiful. Guys are bound to notice. You have matured since we were thirteen."
"If that were true, I'd of had more experience in the boy department."
"You mean the sex department," Nina goaded me.
I glowered at her. Only Nina and I knew the truth of what happened between me and Vitaly the night before he disappeared. The same night he betrayed me.
"Says the virgin," I retorted, making my cousin blush.
She crossed her arms angrily. "You know I told you to never bring that up. I'm saving myself. What's so wrong with that?"
"Please," Mikhail blocked his ears. "Stop talking about my sister's virginity. I don't need hear about that. But in my opinion, no one will ever be man enough to have her innocence. They'll have to prove it to me first."
"And there," started Nina, "is the number 1 reason I don't have boyfriend. My brother is overly protective of my hymen, even though he has a fetish for taking the cherry of other females."
Mikhail shrugged. "What can I say? I'm a man of chivalry."
Nina rolled her eyes. "As if."
