I stand still. Loneliness... Why should it affect me? I've always been alone. Loneliness protected me, but now... Everything's blurry. I can't focus anymore. I stand still. The world that surrounds me is spinning faster and faster. I can only hear my heartbeat. It is loud and steady. My breaths are shallow and quick. Thinking is so hard... I can feel my veins bursting, one by one. The hot blood is trickling down my chin, making its way down my chest, falling onto the dry ground. Can you die, if you've never been born? Can a life that has never started end like this? My... My eyes... I... I can't see... I can feel my legs slowly give way. The ground rises to meet me. The sand envelops me. I can't breathe... Nature claims what's hers. She'll make use out of me. I'll finally matter, but... This Loneliness... It's different than usual. It crawls beside me. Hurt. Pathetic. We are both in agony. We know we won't survive and yet, we try to go further. We're seeking support from each other, but we cannot reach... He'll take us both. I can see him. Black. Silent. Welcoming. And yet evoking fear that roars inside me. I try to hide. I seek Loneliness, but I know that it is my enemy. Trying to escape is pointless. He'll find me. Anywhere. Always. This is my fate. I know I'm not allowed to turn back. Pain is only a part of it. It will pass. I know it will, but... I'll miss it. Loneliness. My old friend. Always by my side. Never against me.

The old cemetery is silent. Only a few magpies jump around, looking for a prey. A heap of freshly digged up earth is laying next to an empty grave. A church bell rings. Five people slowly make their way down the main path. They're all dressed in black. Two of them are carrying an urn. They stop in front of the hole in the ground and proceed to say their prayers. After a while, the churchyard is quiet again. Two wilted violets lay on the fresh, green grass beside the grave. A cat makes its way quickly down a tomb nearby. The setting sun covers the world in blood and the wind cries sweetly in the trees.
