I was running, my friend was right next to me the entire way. Why were we running you may be wondering, well we are actually running from a group of terrible beasts. Each one of them with their unique look. I had caught a glimpse of one before we had started to run, it's face will forever be burned into my mind. It's pale blue-green skin sagging almost like it could fall off at any moment, it's large white eyes stare at my frozen figure; that's all I could make out before my friend had grabbed my hand before running away. 'Why didn't I have my swords on me?!' I mentally screamed at myself. 'I always have them on me?' I glanced over at my friend's face. Parts of her tan skin was shaded and some was light up as we ran through the forest and the patterns shifted on her face. Her strawberry-blonde hair flowing behind her as she ran pushing branches out of her way. She had a look of worry and fear on her face, I mean who wouldn't be afraid of those monstrous things; but this looked different. She looked like she had something on her mind. Soon I spotted a small cave near by, I grabbed Abigail's hand and rushed toward it. When we were safely inside of the cave I finally spoke. "Good thing I did track." I said 'Dammit Harper that's not what you should have said.' I mentally face palmed, what I had said had earned me a glare from Abigail as she gasped as quiet as she could for air. "Sorry I didn't mean to say that. What I meant to say is, is there something on your mind? Back there, when we were running I noticed that you looked worried or something you seemed off in your thoughts." I asked concern showing in my voice. Abigail sighed.
"To say the least I'm just really in my thoughts and honestly kinda confused. I mean these monsters have been around you a lot lately, and honestly I don't know why. You just seem to be so calm about it and it's honestly kind of worrying. It makes me think that you just don't care anymore and-" I cut her off from her rant I could tell that I had worried her by acting so calm. I pulled her into a tight embrace. "I'm like this because I don't want to lose another person in my life especially if they're important to me like you." I simply replied. Just with that sentence all of the memories of the past came flooding back to me.
"Harper quick go hide in the wardrobe." I nodded as I ran to the wardrobe like my older brother, Liam had said. I quickly ran into the wardrobe but left the door just slightly closed. I saw Liam bring out his pistol and start to walk out of the room that we were in. It had been about twenty minutes and that's when I heard gunshots. I tried not to scream as I didn't want to be found and just hoped that Liam will be okay. 'It's been fifty minutes and the shooting stopped about ten minutes ago I think I'll be alright to leave.' I thought to myself. I walked out of the wardrobe and out of the room. As I walked down the hall I noticed that it was really quiet except for the occasional clatter of what seemed like metal and footsteps. As I turned and walked down the stairs I couldn't see Liam anywhere. I turned on the heels of my feet and walked on the tiled floor my socks covering my feet silencing the sound of my footsteps. I walked into the tiled living room and almost screamed. What I saw was a terrible sight. I saw Liam. Dead. He had stab wounds on his chest, his blood soaked through his grey t-shirt that he was wearing his bright green eyes that had once been full of life had gone dull. His gun was what seemed like two-three feet away from him like it had been thrown away from him. He lay in pool of his own blood. I tried to scream but my throat was dry and it hurt to even try to talk. My tongue felt like it had swelled up. I felt warm tears start to drip down my face. I looked over and saw a man with messy blonde hair. He was hunched over a drawer of our utensils. He was a very skinny lean man and he had a bloodied knife in his belt. I couldn't look at him anymore I turned and started to run. I ran as fast as my fourteen year old legs could take me.
When I came back to reality I had warm tears running down my face. I tightened my grip on Abigail, burying my face in her neck. We stayed that way for a while. About three minutes later we pulled out of the hug. I wiped my tears. "I'm sorry that I've worried you so much honestly I just won't forgive myself if I lost you to those, those monsters." I sobbed as Abigail rubbed my back. "Well, just know that I will never leave you. You should know this my now, I will always be by your side and I won't leave you. I promise." Abigail simply said comforting me. Hearing this did in fact calm me down quite a bit. We decided that this is where we would set up camp for the night because both of us are exhausted from running almost all day.
