Chapter Nine
{▪What She Percieves as Shocking▪}

I awake to the steady rhythm of a rising and falling chest. A sent fills my nose that I’ve smelt before but not the one I feel asleep to. My sleepy hand travels up the man’s body, feeling every bump and hair is felt before, everyone it knows by memory. My fingers stop at a new place, I place that doesn’t seem so familiar. With my eyes still closed I explore this new this new place on his chest, running the dip of my finger of the little dent in his soft skin. Its wet, weird even, and my face contorts into a confused expression. My finger delves into the small dent and I can feel the skin expand to make room for my finger, my mind can’t figure out what this is. I slowly open my eyes, trying to adjust them to the bright, almost florescent light. As my eyes pry themselves apart, all I can see is red. My hands, his chest covered in a bright red blood. My eyes are as big as the moon as a fling myself backwards of the bed landing in a heap on the floor. Over the edge of my bed I see Henrys lifeless body lying there, blood gushing out of the wound my finger was exploring.  A small voice starts to hum, a tune I’ve heard quite a bit when Henry’s in a bad mood. “You did this to me princess. I’m dead because of you, and here you lie like a whore.” His voice seems to ring through my head and tortures my ears, I scream but no matter how loud I yell it won’t mask his voice. He just gets louder and louder “You’re a murdering whore, Princess. A murdering Whore”

My eyes fly open and it feels like it’s a hundred degrees in the room. Leo is sleeping next to me, his arms crossed peacefully over his chest. They rise and fall with his breathing, he looks rather sweet sleeping. However, my dream comes rushing back to me and I feel like my chest is tightening. I jump out of the bed and walk as fast and quietly as I can possibly muster to the door. I reach for the handle, turning it but it won’t budge. I try again pulling it harder but still nothing. I can feel the tears start to pull at the corners of my eyes and they feel like they’re on fire. I walk over to Leo patting his chest, but that does nothing and all he does is breath in a deep breathe before turning over. I pound on his arm, basically sobbing at this point.

“Please” I sob “wake up!” I’m basically screaming at him as I shake his arm. His eyes fly open, I big doe eyed expression plasters his face. His body shoots up and he grips my arm.

“Are you okay?” he asks with concern lacing his voice. His eyes examine me looking for a problem.
WHORE. WHORE. WHORE. Rings through my head making me pull away from him. I point a shaky finger at the door.

“I need to get out. Please” I can tell my voice is shaky but I can’t help it.

He stands off the bed slowly, he reaches a hand toward me but I flinch. Although this time it’s not because of all the times he’s beat the shit out of me. It’s because I can’t help but think that I’m somehow saying “fuck you” to Henry by taking comfort in someone so awful in this horrible time. I take a few steps back and look down at the floor.

“Please” I beg looking at him with the best puppy dog eyes I can manage.

He sighs before taking a step toward the door. He stops though and waits a minute, fidgeting with the key in his hand.

He slowly beings to turn back around back around at an agonizing speed. Every second it takes him to turn around, it feels like my chest closes in just a little bit more. When he’s finally facing me I can see the cold dead look in his eyes like the one I seen when he first threatened to kill me. The only difference was this time it looked like a struggle, like it was all an act. I quickly shook the thought from my head though, he never actually cared in the first place. Just an act to make me trust him, and make his life easier.
