"This is what I found outside my door last night," I put the letter on the table and Michael picked it up instantly"Ohhh, a secret admirer?" He asked with a smirk, raising his eyebrow suggestively. I scoffed.
"Yeah, something like that. Go ahead, read it," I dare him. Everyone crowed around him
"If you say so, Darl," He cleared his throat with a smile settled on his lips "To my dearest, favourite detective-"
"I'm offended this wasn't sent to me," Mark interrupted putting a hand over his heart
"Shut up and let him read," Tahlia laughed
"Thank you, as I was saying. I saw you found my last nights entertainment - Wait what is this," Michael looked up at me confused and laughed awkardly. He looked back at the letter and continued reading in his head, the smile slowly slipped from his lips. "Why have you got the address marked out, you're not actually going?!" He stood up from his chair and looked at me angrily, clenching the letter in his hand.
"What, what did the letter say?" Blake plucked it from his grasp and read over the letter while Michael had a go at me. Confusion danced around the table as we spoke.
"You read the whole thing didn't you, he'll kill someone," I responded trying to keep calm
"That someone might be you," Blake spoke up
"He'll probably do it anyway," Michael spoke at the same time as him setting the letter down on the table. Sage picked it up immediately after.
"If there is a chance he's telling the truth then I'm taking that chance," Anger stirred inside me as I looked between them
"Are you crazy?" David blurts out
"You're not going alone," Sage said looking at the letter
"If I don't he'll kill someone," I sigh "There are people dying out there, he's killing people and I'm not going to take the chance of him killing another. Another innocent person. This isn't up for debate," I try not to yell as I speak, tension was already thick. I grab the letter back
"I won't let you go," Michael said lowly, I look at him in disbelief
"What?" I say angrily. Is he seriously testing my authority "I think you're forgetting that I'm the leader of this group, this is not up for debate and that's an order. I'm going." I slam my hand on the desk and let out a deep breath "Keep looking for anything that can help this investigation," I walk out of the room and to the IT room.
"Hey Dan, you here?" I knock on the door. I hear a faint yeah and walk in.
"Whats up, Liz?" He asks while typing on his computer
"The security camera that you used to see the killing of Madlyne, can you get the footage from the same time we were there yesterday ?" I ask
"Yeah, I'll send it to you when it's done." He responded
"Thanks," I walk to the training room and pick up a couple of the throwing knives. Anger flowed through me as I walked over to the targets, throwing one, it misses the bullseye by an inch. I let out a frustrated sigh.
As if they would think I wouldn't go. I threw another knife. And then they call me crazy? Another knife flies from my hand. They were challenging me? their superior? I continue to chuck knives at the target.
About an hour in to practice my phone buzzes and I get the footage from Dan. I open the file and sit down on one of the chairs to the side. The video starts and I watch as I get out of the car meeting with Blake. While watching, something moves at the corner of the screen. I drag the footage back and pause it, Oh my God.
