I stared at the man. What else could he mean? I quickly racked my brain for reasons. He caught me stealing, but he wasn't a guard, and he already told me he wasn't going to bring me in. It couldn't be about Wyvrenhallow, he already said that wasn't it. I cursed myself. I knew that even thinking the name could attract the attention of its Guardian. And if that happened, well then I might as well kiss my life goodbye.

"So would you please stop fussing and follow me?" The man said.

"Give me a reason to trust you and I will. Hell, I don't even know what your name is!" I was scared of this man. Our conversation was attracting people now. There were three people who had stopped and started listening in.

"Alight Savannah. Let's start over. My name is Jacob Farlend and I need your help. Please follow me." The man, Jacob, took his hand off my shoulder. Now that we weren't shouting at each other, the people crowded around us began to disperse as they lost interest.

"Where are we going Mr. Farlend." I hated the way he was acting so calm. I spotted Jack
giving me a worried look. He mouthed, what's going on?, and I just shook my head slightly.

"My office building. Don't worry it's not to far from here." I stared at him. This man thinks that I'm going to just willing go with him to an office building without even knowing why?!

"Alright." I reluctantly said.

"Good." Jacob took my hand and I recoiled. Sensing my discomfort, he instead grabbed my shoulder. He steered me away from Main Street and towards the buildings. I slowed my pace as we reached the closet building. There was a large emblem above the door.

"What's that?" I asked bluntly.

"You'll see." Jacob responded quietly.

As we neared the building entrance, I came to a complete stop. I realized what the emblem meant. It was the royal family's symbol.

"Mr. Farlend? Why is the royal symbol on here?" I was suddenly a lot more wary of him then I was before.

"Take a wild guess." Jacob said sarcastically. When I didn't answer he rolled his eyes at me. "I work for the King and Queen. They need children, like yourself, to go to Wyrvenhallow and protect our country. Now you're thinking, 'but it can't be about that you said it wasn't', well I lied. It is about Wyrvenhallow."

I stared at him in shock. Doesn't he know about Wyrvenhallow's Guardian? "Stop saying the name." I said quietly.

Jacob laughed. "That story about a 'Guardian' is fake. It's told to children to scare them."

I stared dumbfounded. There is no way that he's telling the truth.

"Now are you coming?" Jacob resumed his pace towards the building. I shook my head slightly. This was all wrong. But I followed anyway.

A/N
I like ending on cliffhangers! It's fun. For anyone who's confused, here's a quick summary.
Jacob is taking Vanna to his office building, and he revealed that he works closely with the King and Queen. His job is to find children who are strong enough to fight, and send them to Wyrvenhallow to protect the kingdom.
Is that a little less confusing? I hope it is. Alright well I will see all of you guys in the next chapter. I promise it won't be as long a wait (maybe).
Until next time darlings!
