𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐟𝐮𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐤 𝐚𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐰𝐨𝐤𝐞 𝐟𝐫𝐨𝐦 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐲 𝐧𝐚𝐩.
You'd only planned to sleep for a couple
hours, but you had a feeling that didn't happen.
When you looked at the clock on your nightstand, you were proven right.
You saw that you'd been asleep for about 5 hours.

You would've still been sleeping, but you were
pulled out of your slumber by noises coming
from different areas of the house.
During times like this, you hated how much
of a light sleeper you were.

After staring blankly at the ceiling for
a few minutes, you decided to sit up and stretch.
As you lifted your arms into the air and arched your back, the crackles and pops of your joints
echoed throughout the room.

You removed the blanket that had been neatly
placed over your body.
You didn't remember initially having a blanket,
so you figured Ashley must have brought it
to you while you were napping.

When you removed the layer of warmth,
your body instantly reacted.
You shivered as the cold air came in contact
with your skin which made goosebumps
rise to the surface.
It definitely didn't help that you were
only wearing a t-shirt and a pair of shorts.

You gently rolled your eyes as you thought
back to a conversation you'd had with Ashley regarding the temperature in the house.
She agreed that from now on, she'd set the thermostat to a reasonable temperature.
You came to the realisation that her definition
of reasonable was clearly not the same as yours.

You rewrapped the blanket around you body
in an attempt to gain temporary heat.
As you made your way to the closet to grab one of Ashley's sweatshirts, you made a mental note
to talk to her about the temperature again.

Once you slipped her sweatshirt on,
you noticed that it was oversized.
You didn't mind though because you preferred
her hoodie over yours anyway.
For some reason they just seemed to be cozier.

While you were making your way out
of the closet, you stubbed your toe
on a foreign object.

"Ow, fuck!" you yelped.

You bent down to hold your toe in hopes
of quelling the sharp pain.
You were still fairly tired, so you weren't paying much attention to the things around you.
While you looked around, in search of what
you had hit your foot against, your eyes came in contact with a small box.

As you reached for it, you noticed that
it wasn't any ordinary box.
It was a small wooden box that had been
carefully decorated.
It looked as if it were hand painted
and the only person you knew that would
do such a thing was Ashley.

You lifted the box closer to your eyes so you could have inspect the details up close.
You noticed your name was painted on the lid.

You didn't know if it was supposed to be
saved for a special occasion, but since your name was on it, you felt like you had the right
to see what was inside.
Plus, if Ashley really wanted to hide this
from you, you figured it would've been hidden discreetly and not in plain sight.
