The door slowly creaks open, and footsteps could be heard as he entered the shared apartment before he closes it behind him.

A sigh resonated through the room, the male frustratedly kicking off his ninja sandals and slipping off his vest.

The female upstairs, who he had shared the apartment with, jumps out of her seat and runs downstairs to be greeted by the sight of her beloved boyfriend.

"Shikamaru!" The excitement was apparent on [Y/N]'s face as she pounced on him, wrapping her arms around his neck.

He gets slightly unbalanced by the action, but tiredly wraps his around her waist anyways.

She grabs his hand and drags Shikamaru into the living room, leading him to the couch before seating herself across his lap.

"How was work?"

She grins at him, contrary to his exhausted and annoyed face.

Noticing his expression, she frowns.

"Not good, huh?"

"Yeah. If I had to describe it in a word," he says,

"A drag."

They both say it in unison, [Y/N] giggling afterwards and placing her hands on his cheeks and kissing his nose.

"I'll be right back."

She gets up and heads to another room, and as soon as the male hears her heading upstairs, he knew just what she was doing.

"Don't."

"I will," she smiles.

"No. Don't do it."

A shuffle of objects in the other room is heard before she replies,

"Make me. I'm doing it, and you're gonna accept it."

He sighs, leaning back on the couch.

She had to do this every time.

Soon, said woman appears in the room with...

A helium balloon in her fingers.

[Y/N] runs back to her boyfriend eagerly, holding out the object to him.

"I'm not doing it."

She pouts in response.

"C'mon, please? You've done it before!"

He crosses his arms.

"And I'm resolute on not doing it ever again," he sighs, throwing in another "what a drag" at the end of the statement.

"Yeah, but you gotta admit it works! Pleeeeease?!" The last word was stretched out as she gave him a pleading expression.

...

"Fine."

"Yesssss!"

"But just once," he warns. "Then you're not forcing me to do this ever again."

"Fine, fine, whatever. C'mon, c'mon, do it!" She hands him the balloon, and he rips the tied end off, bringing it to his lips.

"Now succ!!!"

He chokes slightly at the statement.

"Could you not say it like that?"

Her expression goes serious.

"Over my dead body."

Shikamaru rolls his eyes before inhaling the balloon's contents through his mouth.

"Must be yummy," his girlfriend mutters.

After he had gotten enough, he pulls the half-empty balloon away from his mouth and says nothing.

"Okay, c'mon! Say something! There's no point in it if you don't speak!"

The man begrudgingly complies, muttering a quiet "what a drag."

He snickers at the sound of his own voice, but his girlfriend was probably times ten.

At first, her eyes sparkled in success, and then it was an entire fit of giggles.

"Are you serious?" Shikamaru asks.

But his voice just made it worse.

"O-oh my god, I can't breathe! S-stop talking now, holy-"

She stops to breathe a little bit, her chest hurting of laughter.

"I've heard your helium voice like six times already and I still can't get over it," she giggles.

"That's great," Shikamaru mutters sarcastically in response. "It's your turn now."

"What?" She looks surprised.

"You've forced me to inhale this stuff so many times but you've never done it yourself."

He holds out the balloon to her.

"No way in hell I'm doing that!"

"Don't be a chicken."

She pauses.

"F-fine!" [Y/N] snatches the balloon away from him in spite. "Just you watch."

And with those words, she brings it to her lips and inhales it too.

It was safe to say that by the end of the night, the couple had laughed enough to last them each a lifetime.
