I walked out of the cafeteria with Lauren and Karen, for they were the only other ones that went to Art class with me.
I turned to Karen, "What was up with her changing eyes?"
"Oh, it's really nothing to be worried about. She's always had kaleidescope eyes. It just got stronger in Senior Year for some reason. The colors freak everyone out. They're basically her manipulative panel. She loves to use violet, freaks people out the most," she shrugged.
"They don't freak me out much, but when she gets to the 'no color of the eye' thing, that's some scary shmif," Lauren shuddered.
"Shmif?" I laughed.
"That is what I said... isn't it??" She smiled.
"Umm, okay..."
We got into class and everyone was looking at me funny. I tried to ignore it, but that didn't work as well as I had hoped.
"What are they all looking at??" I made eye contact with a goth girl and she turned away.
"You're new, you're with us, Petty likes you... You're pretty popular for a first-day," Karen said without looking up from her sketch.
"What's the last thing you said??" I was afraid I had heard it wrong.
"You're popular for a first-day? Look, it's no-"
I cut her off, "Before that,"
"Petty likes you. He's gonna break up with Jen to ask you out. You didn't know that?? It's all over school." She looked up, "It's not surprising either. He says you remind him of his middle-school girlfriend. He never wanted to break up with her. She moved away though."
He wants me back... was all I could think.
When we walked out of Art, we saw Petty and Jen by the locker. Jen was yelling at him and he was yelling at her. Quite a sight to see if you ask me. It all ended with Jen storming off to her little prissy group. Petty looked angry. Angry at her, angry at himself, Hell, probably angry at me too. He turned around and as soon as he saw me, he smiled. I could only do so much as smile back.
Fake it 'til you make it my brain said to itself. He went the other direction.
I couldn't believe he had broken up with her for me. I mean I knew I was pretty. But really all I thought I was was a blonde haired girl. Now I have Jen on my back because her ex broke up with her for me, I'm friends with the populars, and one of the most popular guys in school likes me. If only Delaney knew....
