"Bev, honey, we're in the dining room!" I heard my mom call out as I had just walked in the house.
I headed that way feeling a mixture of anxiousness and a bit scared. The word "we" hasn't been used since forever, I mean not since my dad and brother moved out.
Walking into the dining room my eyes instantly fell on one of the most beautiful eyes I had ever seen. He stood up when I entered, making his way around the table to say Hi to me. He seemed familiar, something about him was familiar. Although I knew for sure we had never met because how could anyone forget a face like that.
He had black hair almost long in off to what I thought were hazel eyes and a dashing smile. As he went back to sit down I studied his outfit: Black shirt that showed his muscular arms, ripped jeans, and his shoes looked like adidas although I wasn't quite sure.
My mom introduced us as she served us her favorite orange chicken dish, "Beverly this is Jackson, he just moved next door"
I smile at him
"Jackson tell Bev about how your planning on studying abroad" my mom said trying to make conversation at the dining table as if it wasn't already awkward in off.
"Oh yes, well I want to go to the Netherlands you know just to get out there but, for now I like it here" he said looking down at his plate not making any eye contact.
"Where are you from"? I asked nicely.
"I'm from Canada, Whistler actually" he answered, this time looking at me in the eyes.
I panicked.
I took my plate and rushed into the kitchen.
"nice to meet you Jackson, but I have to go I have ballet practice" I yelled from inside the kitchen
"You don't take ballet! Beverly what are you talking about" my mom barked at me
"Um uh, I signed up. The teacher is very strict I gotta go I don't want to be late" I said as I slammed the door behind me.
I knew where I had seen Jackson..... in an old photo that Carter kept in his wallet. He always said he would go visit him up in Canada. They look so much alike except Carter is a blue eyed blonde. His stepbrother had just moved next door.
I had ran all the way to the park that happened to hold my childhood memories,
"Thanks for ditching me Bev, not cool" Bryce came up behind me on the swing all irritated
"How did you find me?" I turned around on the swing
"your mom called, she's worried, I mean your also not supposed to ditch your best friend you know"
"Sorry I needed to get out and clear my head so I went to Pops, ran home and then came to the park to just keep clearing my head Bryceyyy" I said with a puppy dog face so he would stop being pissed at me
"wow its bad huh?, you went top Pops all alone?, but I forgive you" he smiled
(Bryce was my bestest of friends and well he's kind of that perfect best friend that gets you through the storms and hurricanes of life who just never gives up on you even though you've already given up on yourself. I love Bryce and not in a romantic way in a true friend kind of way. I mean don't get me wrong he's hella cute but not to me like yuck he's practically my brother)
