Anita and I arrived just before sundown, I didn't miss the look my father gave me. It read "you're lucky you made it in time."
My father does not use force or any form of abuse towards me, but since I've basically lived in solitude most of my life he knows what I value.
My freedom. He would take it away from me, as a punishment. All night long I couldn't take my mind off that stranger, I think Anita knew.
"Anita, do you remember that guy with the cloak?" I was laying in bed, wearing my floral cotton night gown. "Yes my lady, how could I forget. Why, is he on your mind? You know he's a stranger." I sighed and rolled over getting out of bed and looked at Anita.
"I know he's a stranger. I know that I know nothing about him." Anita looked quite amused and took a seat on the coach.
"Yes, he could be dangerous and have bad intentions."
"Or he could be innocent and have good intentions." I fought back thinking about the man. No, he can't he bad. I feel it within me, and I believe he could good.
"Well, your father would never approve. Don't get your mind hung over a guy you don't even know Princess. How about you sleep, and forget. " Anita rubbed my back with a gentle motions and pulled my sheets back so I could get in bed.
"Anita, I have never been out without being guarded. I've never had the chance to see, to feel, or know. You can't blame me for being intrigued by that guy." I stated as I sat down on my bed with my thoughts in knots.
"Perhaps you are right, but you shouldn't be naive. It's basic knowledge dear. Stranger danger. Please just get some sleep. And forget, remember?" Anita gave me a stern look and smiled. "Goodnight Princess."
I mumbled a quiet good night, and layed in bed with my thoughts awake. Maybe Anita is right.
God I'm so foolish, obsessing over a guy that I don't know. I don't even know how he looks! Geez Zara, get it together.
Just as I was about to get some sleep, I heard my father's voice.
"What's going on now, you fools! Get him!"
His loud voice alarmed and scared me. Is someone in the house? Are we in danger? Where's Anita?
I ran to my closet, and grabbed the robe to my white night gown and adjusted it on.
I ran over to my window and saw some of the guards running out the castle, they all had their equipment.
What's going on?
I hurried out of my room trying to get downstairs.
"Zara, get back in your room!"
My father's voice came from behind me, as I turned around to look at him.
"Father, what's going on? Why are the guards outside?"
"Zara be quiet and go to your room. I will not answer your questions at this time I need you to leave."
I easily would've kept talking to convince him so he would let me out, but we were speaking in quiet tones, and my father, I could tell was visibly upset and mad.
I looked down and nodded. "Yes father." With no more, I headed back upstairs, but his behind the walls, until my father left.
Luckily, I know some other ways to sneak out. I guess being lonely had some perks. I threw my robe in one of the storage rooms nearby.
I ran across the hall, and I was able to hear some of the guards yelling. My curiosity heightened.
I made it out of the castle to the back court, and into the garden. Our garden, I admit is beautiful.
