Woman Of The Future

I am a hero,

I am a warrior.

I am the swiftness and gracefulness of a gazelle

I am the strength and bravery of a lion,

silently stalking my prey.

I am all I see.

Yellow-brown hair, tied in a bun,

ready for a long-awaited ballet performance.

Orange streak across the sky,

the clouds soft and fluffy.

Purple flowers in a garden.

A simple rose, odd in the winter morning.

An anime, about love and friendship.

I am all I hear.

A boy’s voice among a choir,

“Don’t give up, you can do what you want.”

The faint meow of a newborn kitten,

weak and helpless.

The tuned notes of a piano, sweet and soft.

I am all I feel and taste

The cool yet powerful waves of the ocean,

thin pages of a well-known book.

The wet skin of a tiny green frog.

Fresh brownies, straight from the oven,

and chocolate mousse, made in heaven.

And all I remember.

A clear night sky, the moon full,

looking at it’s craters in a telescope.

Tears and pain as I lose a friend.

The warmth of a fire.

I am all I’ve been taught.

“We are all made of light and dark,

what matters is the side that we act upon.”

I am all I think.

Young Love,

and words for a book.

I am like a princess,

and these things are a dragon.

But one day I’ll slay the dragon,

and be free,

Because,

I am the woman of the future.
