District 2
Taryn Beyt
Morning came and I opened my eyes to the blistering light. I groaned having my hand come up to shield my eyes. I looked around for Jake or Valour I didn't see anything on the top of the bush that I was still on. The only thing there was the backpacks and Valour's token that he dropped. Tears formed in my eyes as I remembered what happened.
~Flashback~
I was sleeping when there was a sudden choking sound. I sat strait up looking for the danger. The water hasn't completely drained yet. I looked around for Valour. No sign of him. A flash of metal caught my eye. I crawled towards it. My eyes widened when I saw a necklace there.
On the side there was a note there. I read it and it said, "I'm sorry that you have to see me like this (unless the hovercraft already took my body). But you see the games they are changing me and I don't like it. By the time you read this I will already be dead." I stopped for a second. Why is he telling me this?
I continued to read. "I hope that you can forgive me. I am so sorry Taryn. Please take my token and win, for me, Evan, Jake.
With all respect
-Valour"A few tears fell on the paper blotching a few of the words. I immediately started wiping the tears away not wanting to ruin the note anymore. I then remembered the gurgling sound earlier. I looked over the edge and the sight mortified me. There floated Valour's corps. His head was up and his eyes were rolled back.
I couldn't look anymore the sight just made a knot in my stomach. I knew that I was going to throw up if I kept looking.
~Flashback End~
I found out that their was a picture of him in the charm. Luckily the water went down since last night. I grabbed two of the backpacks and grabbed a sword, 15 knifes and put them in my knife belt and a throwing ax just in case. I started climbing down from the big bush. I looked around thinking about which way to see if I can find Jake.
I looked at the sun to see which way north is. knowing that the sun rises in the east and sets in the west I figured out which way north and south was easily. I started walking northeast figuring that any direction is just as good as any. I kept walking trying to look for any signs of Jake being here or any tributes for that matter.
Soon, I was lost in though. Was Jake okay? We got separated in the wave and I couldn't find him. I know that one of us is going to have to die if they want the other to win. I just don't want Jake to die. I know that if he did half of me would die with him. But what about the promises I made to Evan, Valour, even Jake told me that he wants to win but he also wants me to win.
Ugh the Hunger Games are messing with my life. I was suppose to come in here make an alliance that I am okay killing, win this thing and go home and prove to my district that even though I am a girl and that I am small, we can win this thing too. Now I am in love with somebody from another district and I keep making promises that I may not be able to keep.
My thoughts were interrupted by a sound to my right. I stopped and listened. It sounded like a girl moaning. What the heck? Using the bushes as a cover I looked to see who was moaning. What I saw made angry and sad tears come to my eyes. There in the clearing was Jake and Silla on a log kissing.
My breath got caught in my throat. Why was he kissing her? Didn't he love me? The same thoughts kept playing in my mind. They continued kissing only pulling away to catch their breath before latching on again. I saw red. How dare he kiss another girl after all we been though. We get separated and he suddenly goes after another bloody girl.
