~The Hart's Estate~ ~Four years later~

"Why must I go to this ball mama? I'm only 12, I don't need to go to these things," complained Luna.

"Sweetheart do you not want to see your Ross? Besides, you can meet other children to play with instead of it always being Ross," replied Lydia.

"No! No one is like me and Rossy, no one understands us and like we do. Mama, please I do not want to go to this party!"

"Young lady that is enough. You are going and that is absolutely final. No one is here to watch you because the maids have the day off, so go get in your dress and let us be off!"

As the Hart's finally made it to the ball, Luna spotted her "enemy", Elizabeth. Luna only called her this because of last year she started trying to flirt with Ross and try to be his new best friend. As Luna saw her she tried looking for Ross but could not set her eyes on him.

   "Mama, where be Ross?"

"Oh my darling, I'm sure he's around her somewhere or they are just running late. You know how Ross likes to make an appearance," answered Joseph for his wife.

Luna just pouted with that answer and walked around trying to find him. When she did, she saw him glaring at George while standing with his parents.

   "ROSSY!!!"

Ross snapped his head to her voice and his face immediately lightened. He asked his father if he may go to Luna and his father just nodded. Joshua didn't want Ross to keep hearing about the mine troubles and he didn't want to keep hearing Ross whine about where Luna was.

"Lulu you look beautiful as ever!"

"Thank you Ross, do you want to go to the gardens? Elizabeth keeps looking for you and I do not like it one bit," Luna said agitated and bluntly.

"Perhaps that is best. I do not want her to take a chance and come between our friendship. Let's go get you a rose."

"Ross you know I love Lilly's more than roses. They are very original, and Lilly's need more attention." She smartly replied.

"I only say it because I love teasing you."

Luna blushed when he's said that and felt faint when he held her hand to go to the gardens. She knew she had developed a bigger crush and she thought Ross knew as well because he always looked smug.

As Ross lead them into the gardens he immediately started for the Lilly's to make Luna happy. Luna saw them and raced Ross to them because when do they ever not race. Luna held one to her nose and Ross felt his heart stop. Even though he was only 13, he knew he was going to make Luna his bride and so did everyone else. He kept his crush a secret because he did not want to be made fun of. Although, it wasn't a secret to anyone anymore.

"Luna. I umm, I-I need to uh tell you something that must be kept a secret."

"Of course my dear Ross. What is troubling you this evening?"

Ross stumbled over every known syllable while Luna tried not to laugh at his uneasiness. She tried to help him by putting her soft cold hand on his arm but that broke poor Ross' brain. He finally got ahold of himself and looked her in they eyes, "Luna I have loved you for years and I was too much of a coward to try and tell you but I do wish upon the heavens that it isn't too late to tell you m how my heart yearns for you."

Luna was speechless, absolutely speechless. She was expecting a stupid joke he was having trouble remembering, not his undying love.

   "Ross I -"

"I know that we are very young Luna Grace Hart, but-but I know what I want in my future and now. And that is undoubtedly you."

"I love you too Ross Poldark. Ever since our family had the picnic. I was too frightened to say anything but now I know. I know I want you in my future as well. Always and forever Ross."

Ross gently caressed her face and smiled bright at her. He slowly leaned in with her copying him and pressed their lips together. They pulled away fast and blushed brightly. Ross rubbed his neck smiling like he had just hit gold and Luna was giggling quietly. They looked at each other, held on to each other's hands and walked back to the party and danced. Their mothers were a mess while the husbands were arguing on who made the first move to get the others bet money. Lydia and Grace both hit their husband head and went on about wedding plans and how they needed to move closer to each other.

This was a night that will never be forgotten and will always be treasured. No one knew that Ross kept the flower and put it in his art book to keep safe, and no one knows that it is the same flower hung upon his wall while he was away in the war. It is the most important thing Ross has ever owned and he wouldn't lose it for the life of him.
