It had been hectic, to the point I went through several breakdowns in preparation for fashion week and the wedding. We even flew on a weekend to meet with Nicolas's family. His Nana hugged me so hard and whispered that she was glad Nicolas had heeded her advice for once. His parents were kind and sweet. His brothers were rowdy and teased him senselessly and told me funny stories about him.
I had enjoyed my time with them and in their home near London. It was a beautiful house surrounded by acres of land and forest. We even went horseback riding one foggy morning around the property. Stopping in the dense forest for a quickie.
When July came we took a train to Nice, and from there a car was waiting for us to take us to the Chateaux. Nicolas had been surprised to see the property.
"You told me it was a small chateau."
"It is small compared to the other Chateaux's in France."
"Hardly small." He grinned and leaned back. "My family are arriving tomorrow."
"And the wedding is in three days." I sighed nervously.
"Hey! Are you getting cold feet?" He squeezed my hand.
I shook my head.
"Never! I haven't been so sure of anything in my life."
He leaned and kissed me.
"I just can't believe your father is putting us in separate rooms." He huffed a breath in irritation.
"Just for three days." I pleaded with him.
"Feels like three years when I think about it...thirty decades. We will be doing a lot of sneaking around keep that in mind." He said warningly, amusement brimming in his eyes. God how I love those eyes.
My parents welcomed us effusively. My father pulled me into a tight hug and kissed me on both cheeks.
"My baby is getting married." He murmured to me.
"I am. I love him Papa."
"I know." He gave me another kiss on the forehead. "Come your brothers are waiting inside."
My brothers with their wives and children were all in the living room. We were a loud family when we gathered and Nicolas seemed to fit in admirably with them. He got along with Ahmed and Majed.
The next day, Veronic arrived with the dress, and then later in the afternoon Nicolas's family arrived and the Chateaux felt suddenly full and ready to explode with people and children running around.
A wedding planner my mother had been in contact with came and the tent she planned to put in the garden was set up and tables and chairs were brought and the decoration set up. The reality of the situation had suddenly hit me and luckily I had been with Veronic at the time when I almost lost it.
"Stop! Remember you love him." Veronic grabbed my arm and stopped my pacing.
"I do...what if he doesn't love me enough?" I looked at her frantically.
"You still doubt his affection for you? You stupid girl! Listen to yourself!" She said with annoyance. "You shouldn't have any doubts with what he had done for you so far! You are getting married to your soulmate Leah."
"I know..." I heaved a breath and leaned down taking gulps of air into my lungs.
"Yes, my sweet darling. He loves you." Her hand came on my back of my shoulders, circling around in comfort.
"He loves me." I repeated after a minute. "I'm getting married to my soulmate."
"Yes you are." Veronic gave me peck on the cheek when I straightened and rubbed at my face. "Now come, you obviously need another sneaking around with him."
She had been covering for us whenever Nicolas and I disappeared for a tryst. I groaned and followed her back into the Chateaux.
