Nightpool's P.O.V

"Spider Demon." He says solemnly after a few minutes of silence. I stood still as he prepared to leave and headed home.

It was him without a doubt, the hunted one. I didn't want to admit it to myself but the time had finally come.

I retreated back to the place from which I came, preparing myself to deal with what the future would bring.

I quickly shed my human body and everything she had was left behind as I phased into the wasteland.

"Good evening. It's been a while." An angel dressed in black with the same face as mine greeted me as soon as I step foot into the endless void of a world that was my birthplace.

"It has indeed," I greet her in return.

"You've found him haven't you?"

She gently brushes my arm to inspect it for any sign of a tell.

"I have, as you know," I admit, referring to the confirmation I had gotten from Kalkari in the human world.

"And what will you do?" She held up my chin, looking into my eyes to keep me from any form of deception.

"You already know I couldn't care less what the other angels do, Mala. For now, I will stay by him." I profess my plan thus far.

"Bona, you're stupid. The gods will know," She laughs loudly, not knowing if I was being honest.

"They don't care what I do, if they can't help send another angel then it's their own fault," I excuse, knowing the heavens wouldn't bother to move a finger for anything they wanted.

"But what if they send me?"

She laughed again, letting go of me and dancing around rather drunkenly.

"What about you," I ask her in return, stopping the hideous dancing.

She stopped abruptly and turned to face me, "if I do what I'm told, what will you do then hmm?"

I laughed this time.

With a quick motion I stood in front of her and gripped her neck, "Mala, be quite."

I let go of her and she fell to the floor, laughing once more, "have fun on earth Bona. Don't get yourself killed now!"

Without another word, I returned to the body of the girl, and managed to make it back in time for my first class that morning.
