Forgiveness

Chapter 2: The Sniper

"So, what's the big rush?" Anakin asked as he, Obi Wan, and Ahsoka walked towards the Jedi temple together.

"The Jedi council has called an emergency meeting" Obi Wan answered simply. Anakin shook his head and sighed. " I can see it now, another long, boring debate" Anakin said rolling his eyes.

"Would you rather they call you in to train younglins?" Ahsoka asked with a smirk. Anakin turned to her and said "Are you crazy?" . Obi Wan shook his head with a smile.

Here goes another argument between master and padawan Obi Wan thought. He turned to say something when suddenly blaster shots started to hit the ground around them. They ran for cover as they tried to figure out how to escape unharmed.

"Any idea where that shot came from?" Obi Wan said as he looked at his singed robe.

"A sniper up there!" Ahsoka said. "I see him!" She said pointing to a bounty hunter on the roof.

Obi Wan thought for a moment and then he looked over at Anakin and Ahsoka.

"Alright, here's what we're gonna do" he said. "Anakin, you flank him on the right. Ahsoka, you cover the lower streets. I'm going after him" Obi said.

Both Anakin and Ahsoka nodded and they ran out from behind their cover. They all ignited their lightsabers and ran to their positions.

Both Obi Wan and Anakin jumped onto the rooftop and chased after the bounty hunter as he fled from the Jedi. Ahsoka ran down to the lower streets, but saw no one.

"Nothing down here!" She said into her comm. Anakin nodded as he hid behind a pillar. " What about you, Obi Wan? " he asked.

There was no answer. Maybe he doesn't have his comm... Anakin thought. But he never got the chance to ask. ______________________________________

Obi Wan was hiding behind a pillar next to where Anakin was hiding, but he was out of sight from him.

He inhaled and exhaled. He made sure he had the vial with the liquid that would make him seem dead to everyone, including Satine.

Satine... He thought. He had completely forgot about her and her reaction to all of this. I should have told her. He thought. But then the mission might fail...

He shook his head. He told himself to stop and concentrate. He grabbed his lightsaber and concealed it on his person.

He then reached into another concealed pocket in his robe and brought out another, identical, but fake lightsaber.

He had thought long and hard about it, and he knew that if he really were killed in battle or something, he would ask whoever was over him, be it Cody, Rex, or even Anakin, to give his lightsaber to Satine.

It's what he had promised her after waking up a week after he was shot protecting Satine when he was on Mandalore.

"I promise you Satine, if anything ever happens to me, I'll make sure you get my lightsaber. That way you'll never forget me" Obi Wan said. "Don't say that Obi. And besides, how can I forget someone who has given me so much to remember?" She said as she leaned over to kiss him.

He smiled at the memory. Then he looked down at his lightsaber and let out a sigh. Here we go he thought as he walked out from behind the pillar and straight into the bounty hunter's shooting range.

He turned around and braced for the shot. He stood there for a second and then he felt the shot hit him.

He staggered back and let out a yell. He reached the edge of the building and fell down to the streets below.

"Obi Wan!" Anakin yelled as he saw his master fall to the streets below.

He jumped from the top of the building and ran to where his master lay. Ahsoka turned to him and said "You go after him, I'll take care of Obi Wan" as she ran over to the fallen Jedi.

Anakin nodded and ran after the bounty hunter. In the meantime, Ahsoka got to Obi Wan and turned him over so he was lying on his back.

She gasped when she saw the large blaster hole in his chest and she began to try and keep Obi Wan awake.

"Master, master, stay with me!" She pleaded as she cradled the dying Jedi Knight. Obi Wan looked up at her and gave her a sad smile.

" Don't worry about me, snips. I'm gonna be fine" he said although his voice was getting weaker by the second. He raised up his left hand and handed his lightsaber to Ahsoka.

"A-ahsoka...please promise me that you'll give my lightsaber to...to...S-Satine" he said. Ahsoka looked bewildered but nodded. 
"I promise, master" She said.

Obi Wan nodded. "T-thank you, Snips" he said. Ahsoka held him close as she waited for Anakin or the ambulances to come back, whichever came first.

Suddenly, Obi Wan grabbed Ahsoka's arm and said "Please tell Anakin that I love him, and that he has always been my brother" he said. "And always remember that I'm proud of you Snips. Never forget that, alright?" He said.

Ahsoka nodded. "But master..." She never got to finish. Obi Wan suddenly went slack and his body no longer moved, it was completely limp.

" Master? Master! Master!!!! " Ahsoka said as she shook him to wake him up, but it was no use, he was gone.

At that instant, Anakin ran up to them and looked at Ahsoka. "How is he?" He asked.

Ahsoka just looked up at him and shook her head. Anakin took in a sharp breath. No, no, no, NO! He thought. He can't be dead!!!

He ran up to Obi Wan and fell to his knees. He cradled his master and shook him. "Obi Wan!" He yelled, tears falling down his face . "OBI WAN!!!!" He yelled out again.

But he got no response from the fallen Jedi. He was pulled away from him as the medics got to the scene, but he didn't care.

My master is...GONE Anakin thought, yet he didn't want to believe it. Suddenly, he had a terrible thought How am I going to tell the council? And how am I supposed to tell Satine? He thought as he sunk to his knees and started sobbing.
