Perhaps School Would've Been Better

"You sure you're not hungry? I actually made some breakfast today," my father said with a sort of apologetic smile as he removed the pan from the stove, slightly burnt eggs and all."

"Yeah, I'm sure," I mumbled a response as I walked from the kitchen to the living room, picking up my backpack and slipping it onto my arms. I didn't get any more sleep after I had woken up the night before, for I only lied on my back and stared at the ceiling before the alarm on my phone went off. Due to the lack of sleep, half-circles could be seen underneath my eyes.

"You look like... Well, you don't look so good," my dad said as he looked into the living room, "Are you okay? Are you sick? When did this happen? Here, let's get you a pl-"

"Why are you asking so many GODDAMN questions?!" I yelled without thinking, feeling my blood suddenly begin to boil. A long moment of silence passed between us before I sharply exhaled. "I've got to go." Although I still had half an hour before I had to leave for school, I felt desperate to leave the house.

"Y/N... Y/N!" My father yelled after me as I pushed open the front door and made my way to the parked car in the driveway, "What the hell is up with you? That is no way to talk to me!" His voice became distant in my ears as I fished the car key and fob out of my pocket.

"Y/N! We're gonna talk about this!" I could hear him distantly yell as I climbed into the driver's seat and turned on the car, reversing out of the driveway. I didn't spare him a look through the passenger seat window.

I continued driving in the opposite direction of the school, driving until I turned onto a dirt road that led into the forest. I drove for a few more minutes before coming upon an open area, parking my car at the edge of the cliff overlooking the town I had grown up in. I reached down to unbuckle my seatbelt before realizing I hadn't put it on in the first place. I let a sigh escape my lips as I leaned forward and let my chest uncomfortably rest against the steering wheel. "What the fuck did I just do..." I mumbled to myself. My gaze rested on the town, its tiny people probably walking out of their houses with their thick clothing to protect themselves from the fall breeze. My finger instinctively moved to zip up my navy blue jacket. I pushed my seat back to get into a comfortable position as my heavy eyelids began to close.

Before I knew it, a figure sprang from the backseat with a white cloth in their gloved hand. My scream was muffled by the cloth the figure used to cover both my mouth and nose with. I struggled to move forward, quickly grabbing my keys from behind the wheel before the stronger person-like-thing pulled my head back against the seat. I tightened my grip on the key before I attempted to stab the person's face with it. Their grip on me slightly loosened as they dodged it, giving me the opportunity to push the car door open. I grunted as I fell out of the car, wasting no time in pushing myself up, which I attempted to do while getting a running start. As I did so, the backseat door behind me opened, out stumbling the male figure. Another scream emitted from my throat as the person tackled me down, grabbing onto my wrists and hitting my hand against the cold ground to loosen my grip on the key. Once the key was hit out of my hand, I was rolled onto my back and given just enough time to see the dark mask and orange-tinted goggles that covered my attacker's face, which was also shaded by the faded blue hoodie pulled over their head. "Please, please!" I begged although I knew that there was no getting out of this alive, "I-I won't tell anyone! I swear, just please let me go." They brought their fist up before it suddenly came down on my face, resulting in the pitch black that overtook my consciousness.
