"I wanna run away.", announces Aimee kinda loudly as she takes a sip of her soda. I can't see inside but I know the cup is empty. She's drinking air.
"Why? You would leave me and Chris and your family like that?"
She shakes her head. "No. I'd run away with Chris...and if you want you could come to. My mom... she has Eddy. And she has my sister. My sister is perfect anyway."
"Aimee, you can't leave all us behind.", I tell her. She's not really thinking rationally.
She looks down at the ends of her hair. "I don't wanna die in this town...God, I have so many split ends."
Gabriel comes to sit down in front of me, sliding a paper in my direction. "I got an A on my spanish test."
I smile at him. "Glad I could've helped someone."
He tilts his head sideways like he's trying to figure me out. I wasn't that hard to figure out. I'm transparent. You can see right through me. He was just particularly better at seeing through me than most. "Celeste, I'm not telling you to get over Aimee but you need to let her go."
I don't say anything so he continues.
"She wanted you to let her go. The signs are all there. You don't have to forget about her. Just live your life, okay?"
