A lunch tray is placed in front of me.

"I'm sitting with you today, Celeste.", says Gabriel.

I didn't exactly know what to say, so I just smile and move my stuff out of the way.

I say nothing and pick at my food.

"You're lonely, Celeste." It's a statement, not a question.

"Yeah.", I say. My voice is hoarse and barely above a whisper.

"You talk.", says Gabriel, taken aback.

I nod and give a half-hearted smile. "I do."

"You've always seemed pretty quiet, though.", he says thoughtfully.

I look at Aimee's notebook and then go to look him in the eyes. "Because Aimee had enough mouth for the both of us."
