The nightlife in Vortex city was just like the nightlife in the past. With the city lights, the sound of jazz music coming from a bar from afar, and, the constant buzzing of magnetic cars passing from the streets nearby.
To Galvan, this night is just like any other night to him. He works in the morning, practices his dancing and singing after work hours, sometimes he finishes any machines or blueprints that are needed to be done during that night then, he goes home and the cycle repeats. The only time when there are any changes is when Denki has a concert or when he has fan meet-ups that he has to attend and during those days, his business closes for a whole day just to meet those appointments.
Caeles already went home early that night with the excuse of "I have to meet someone later" leaving him alone in his office for the rest of the hours. He knows he just went to some bar nearby to have a drink. His eyes rolled at the obvious excuse his friend made and prepared to close his office for the day.
Tired from work, he activated the security locks in his office and turned off the lights, making sure that he got everything in check before he went on his way to his home.
On his way home, his thoughts were occupied as he took some notes on his clipboard, reviewing the events that happened that day. "Alright, I finally got some applications for some assistant in my office. I just need them to send me their resumes so that I can review their work experiences and probably schedule their interview or something. Hmm...this shouldn't take too long." his hand played with his pen as he kept himself occupied during his walk.
However, as he approached the incoming intersection, he hears the blaring of the sirens coming from afar and the people screaming from fear which made him stop in his tracks. 'A fire?' he thought as stood in place, raising his left eyebrow while observing his surroundings and soon enough the blaring of sirens become louder until a group of fire trucks, crossed the intersection from the left.
"Just as I thought," Galvan said to himself as he started to walk towards an alley just a few steps behind. He placed his clipboard and his pen back inside his shoulder bag as he went on his way "Well, I guess I can't take the main road for now. It's best to avoid the commotion up ahead." However, he stopped in his tracks the moment he notices what is up ahead.
In the middle of the alley, there is a man that is slumped on the ground with his back against the wall and his head was leaning towards the ground. The man was wearing a white coat and was soiled by the ground beneath him, he might be also wearing black slocks and a black dress shoe but, aside from that, he couldn't tell anything else. Beside him was a metal briefcase which has some small chinks which were probably caused by outside trauma but, other than that, everything is perfectly fine.
Galvan didn't hesitate and walked towards this man's side and tried to call his attention "Hey! HEY! Are you okay?" he tried shaking his shoulders but to no avail. The man has signs of breathing but it seems that he is knocked out cold "Geez, are you drunk? You shouldn't sleep on the ground like this" he said. The sirens blared once more and this time, more fire trucks see coming, that's when he realized the bullet holes on this coat that almost his got the skin underneath while some left some abrasions, the small wounds and bruises on his wrists and his unkempt hair that was wet from his own sweat. 'Is he one of the fire victims? Or was he a hostage victim? ' Galvan thought immediately as he grabbed his phone and said "Sh*t! Don't worry sir, I'll go get the ambulance for you!"
He stopped he felt the man grab his arm and briefly told him, with his soft-spoken voice "Don't..."
'Huh, well he is awake at least' Galvan thought. He placed his phone back in his pocket, still, he is worried that the man will grow weaker at any second he is untreated "Well, you are clearly not in a good shape. Do you have a place to stay? I can take you there if you want?"
The man replied weakly as he stared at the briefcase beside him "No, I can't. They're...after me."
"Can you walk at least? My office is nearby and I can take you there if you don't any other options"
This time, he was replied with silence as the stranger went back to his original slumped position. 'He must have fainted. Well, I better take him there then' Galvan thought as he started to lift the man off the ground and carried him on his shoulders, silently thanking him for not being too heavy, unlike his friend, before carrying his briefcase along with his stuff.
As they walked out of the alley, Galvan was preoccupied with his thoughts 'Did this happen before?' He shake his head then stared at the man he was carrying 'Well at least his condition is not as grave unlike when I first found Caeles on the streets'
Slowly, Galvan made his way back to his office. He can still hear the commotion that was happening behind him. It was also a miracle that no one has seen him carrying some scientist on his back. It's better this way he thought as he push forward to their destination. Soon, as they got far away from the scene, the sirens fade away but now, the skies are on the verge of raining and Galvan might face another problem if he is unlucky enough. Fortunately, he reached his place in time and took him to the back office where he helped the man sit on his couch.
He quickly removed the guy's upper clothing to check for any wounds that are needed to be addressed first and closely observed the man's features as he went. The man has dark hair, light-colored skin, and small eyes with a dark bag under his eyes probably due to lack of sleep. He also has a thin body build and is probably just around his height, Galvan figured that he is probably an Asian, and the surname that he found on his nameplate that is pinned on his white coat confirms it. "Hmm...Dr. Chen" said Galvan as he pulls the nameplate closer, dragging the rest of the cloth along "He is a doctor at UPHO. Huh, isn't that an organization of some sort? Curious... " After inspecting, he found out that most of his wounds are shallow and can easily be treated with proper first aid and that the guy is probably weak due to fatigue and needs some rest.
After treating his wound with some antiseptics he found in his office and some bandages, he got some pillows and blankets and turned the couch into a makeshift bed for him then helped the man lay on his bed. He looked at the man one time and made a mental note to himself to ask for his name the next morning if he ever woke up before he closed the lights and the door to give him some privacy.
Galvan looked around in his main office once again and scratched his head "Guess I'll be sleeping here tonight."
A/N: Don't ask hahahaha. Argh, I already forgot what making a story feels like. Not to mention that my previous plot for this story has already been changed to oblivion but with the same goal. Oh yeah, this chapter is based on Steel's comic, ESC be sure to read it out! It's really funny!
