As Lily was walking of to her next class, she ran into Cho. "Hey, how was your first class?" She asked. "Amazing! So fun, except for the Draco part." Lily sighed. Cho frowned. "Ugh, what did that kid do to you now?!" She said whilst crossing her arms. "He just called me a 'Smart Ass' which i'm sure isn't the worst thing he may do to me, but it was enough to make me angry!" Lily explained. Cho Chang rolled her eyes, then snatched Lily's class schedule and looked at it. "Yes! We are in the same class!" She beamed. Lily smiled and took her schedule back. The girls jogged onto outside to their class, as they were around 50 seconds late. The teacher seemed pretty chill and laid back, she didn't seem to care that they were the last ones to get into class.
"I am Madam Rolanda Hooch i'm a witch who works as the Flying instructor, Quidditch referee, and coach at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry." Hooch smiled. Although she looked laid back, her language was quite formal. "And as you know, you are going to learn how to fly a broomstick," She said. "So you put your hand over the broomstick and say 'UP!'" . Just like that Her broomstick quickly floated up to her hand. She blew her whistle and clapped her hands, indicating that it was the students turn.
'UP!' Yelled the frustrated students. "Ugh! I can't do it!" Cho moaned. Lily patted her on the back, which somehow motivated her. "Try not to say it too aggressively," Hooch explained. Everyone became much quieter, and one by one the broomsticks began to float up. Lily looked up a just happened to see Draco, he had his broom and seemed very proud of himself. Lily tapped Cho's shoulder. "How come we are always in the same class..." She pointed to Draco. Cho shrugged and just kept trying. "I DID IT!" She cheered. Around 5 minutes had past and Lily still hadn't gotten her broomstick. Everyone was just staring at her eagerly, some people were laughing.
"I can't do it Madam Hooch!" She sighed. Hooch made her way over to Lily and gave her some tips. "Maybe try and, uh... Sweety flying is not for everyone." She said patting Lily on the back. Lily looked down at her broom and lazily said 'Up' . Her broom came up! She smiled and Madam Hooch hugged her. Some people clapped, but not everyone.
"Now we shall learn to fly, Lean left and right and push up and down, now try." She said. Lily sat on her broomstick and took a deep breath. Cho was already up in the air. Slowly Lily made it in the air. "This is cool and scary." She whispered as she looked at the ground below her. Madam Hooch signaled everyone to come down, but Lily's broomstick wasn't cooperating. "AHH!!! MADAM WHAT DO I DO-" Lily was flung of er broom and into the water. Everyone bolted towards the lake.
"ARE YOU OK? DID THAT HURT!? OMG! IS SHE DEAD?" cried some of the students. Madam Hooch pushed through the crowd and dragged Lily out of the lake. To her surprise, she had a tail! Everyone was standing on their tippy toes, trying to take a better look. "So she's the mermaid?" Madam Hooch said. Cho nodded. Madam Hooch was gently shaking Lily and whispering her name, no response from Lily. That's when Cho Chang barged in through the crowd. "That's not how you do it!" She said pushing Hooch out of the way. Cho slapped Lily in the face a hard as she could. "LILY GET UP YOU BABY!" She yelled. "OUCH!!!" Lily said touching her cheek. Cho hugged Lily tightly and apologised.
Lily looked at the surrounding people. "Uh Hi?" She unsurly said. Madam Hooch bent down to Lily. "Hunny do you remember anything?" She asked. "Um... I'm pretty sure I just fell of my boomstick?" She replied. Lily looked at her feet and saw her tail. Her eyes widened. "Maybe I should take you to the nurse just in case," Madam Hooch said putting Lily on her broom. Lily was being taken to the nurse. She still wondered why she had her tail. Is it when I touch water? She thought. Next thing she knew she was plopped onto a nurses bed, and she slowly fell asleep.
