"I don't understand why I have to come with you", Felix sighed, getting dragged along by one of his best friends Chan. Because I don't want to go alone", Chan retorted matter-of-factly . "Yeah, but why ask me? You could've asked Woojin hyung or Jisung. Besides, I don't even like coffee", Felix whined. "They had to work on a project and you know you can also get other drinks at a café. Now quit your whining or else I won't pay for you". That seemed to make Felix shut up, because although he would've liked to annoy his hyung some more, he was too broke to afford anything from the café.
The two boys walked across campus. Letting the sun hit his face, Chan hummed in satisfaction. "It's way too hot today", Felix moaned, shielding his eyes from the sun. "We used to live in Australia mate, how could you not be used to a little bit of heat. It's not even that hot". "Look who's talking. You look like you haven't seen the sunlight in years". Chan let out an offended scoff accompanied by one of his signature eye rolls, whilst Felix doubled over laughing at his own joke.
Suddenly deciding a little extra teasing couldn't hurt, Felix smirked before opening his mouth once again. "I get that you like that new barista, but do you really have to visit this café every day. Grow a pair and ask him out already". That seemed to have struck a chord with Chan, as a frown took over his features. "First of all. He doesn't work there every day, I only go on the days he's working", Chan stated. "Real smooth and unsuspicious", Felix muttered under his breath. "And second of all", Chan continued, sending Felix a small death glare at his not so quiet remark, "he probably doesn't even know I exist". Felix let out an exasperated sigh at Chan's last remark. He was convinced that the younger worker had definitely noticed his hyung. He literally went to the café every day the younger was there, how could he not have noticed. Felix, as well as his two other friends, had grown tired of Chan's constant love-struck rambling about this so called 'Jeongin'.
As the two boys entered the café, the sound of a tiny bell could be heard, alerting the baristas that new customers have arrived. Chan was immediately greeted by a cheerful boy who was in the midst of operating the cash register, his smile so wide you could spot his braces from a mile away. "Felix recognised the boy as Jeongin, all thanks to Chan's endless descriptions of said boy. Chan struck up a conversation with the boy, his eyes disappearing into crescents, whilst Felix stood to the side awkwardly, eyeing the two's conversation a bit before deciding to go sit down in a booth in the corner of the café and wait for Chan there. He was convinced the older knew his order anyway. Taking his seat, his attention was still on the two boys, who seemed to be happily chatting away, both seemingly having forgotten about their surroundings. Felix grabbed his phone from his pocket, deciding on playing a game, as he was beginning to feel bored.
A few minutes later, Chan finally decided to join him, as one of Jeongin's co-workers called him over. Chan was practically beaming with happiness, the slightest shade of pink still dusted on his cheeks. "They'll bring our orders soon". Felix looked up from his phone and nodded in response, before looking back down at his phone, leaving Chan to his business of blatantly staring in Jeongin's direction.
It only took a few seconds before Felix got annoyed at Chan's behaviour, internally sighing in the process. Chan was definitely smitten and, although Felix thought it was extremely cute, he felt like he was already third-wheeling, even though the two weren't dating yet. Already bored with the game he was playing, he closed the app before opening his twitter and leisurely scrolling through his feed, patiently waiting for his tea and cake to arrive.
Felix expected Jeongin to be the one to bring Chan and his' order to their table, so he was pleasantly surprised when another dark-haired boy placed his drink and cake in front of him. Felix couldn't help but stare at him as he walked away from their table, his heartbeat increasing rapidly. The boy was slightly shorter than Felix himself and he wore an annoyed expression on his face. His mood seemed the exact opposite of Jeongin's, who was still smiling brightly behind the counter, sending quick glances in Chan's direction, before blushing and turning away when their eyes met. Chan, who was now twirling the spoon in his coffee, noticed Felix' sudden change in attitude, as the latter's eyes were still stuck on the servers retreating figure. He tapped the younger's shoulder and, when he got his attention, suggestively wiggled his eyebrows at him. This in turn caused a blush to appear on Felix' face. "What are you doing? Stop wiggling you're eyebrows at me, you look like an idiot", Felix groaned, clearly embarrassed that he had been caught staring at a stranger by none other than his lunatic of a best friend. "Don't even try to deny it Felix, you're interested in Changbin aren't you?" "No I'm not", Felix denied. "This is the first time I've ever seen this guy, I don't know nor like him. I was just curious. How do you even know his name?" "It was on his nametag, which you would've noticed had you not been too busy staring at his face", Chan teased before slowly sipping on his coffee. Felix let out a huff in response, trying to think up a comeback but ultimately failing to do so. It didn't matter anyway, as Chan already had his full attention on Jeongin once again.
