I try to avoid eye contact with this girl but I just couldn't. I looked at her from the corner of my eye to see her already looking at me. When she realises I'm looking at her, she smiles and looks back down to her work. I flash my eyes back up to the front when I actually notice everyone was staring at me. "Mr Dolan?" The teacher asks. "Answer to question 32?"

"Uh," I mumble, quickly getting out my textbook and flipping to page 245. "s24." I say after scanning the question and estimating my answer. "Obviously, mr Dolan here wasn't listening as his answer is far off." The teacher says, pacing to the other side of the room. "What about Miss Green?"

VALERIE'S POV

To my surprise, the teacher called out on me after calling out on 'Mr Dolan'. "The answer's s85, sir." I say quietly, not wanting this cute guy to think I'm some sort of brainiac, because I'm not. I wrote the answer on my hand which I cheated from. "Good job, Miss Green," Mr. Jones says, focusing his attention back to the mysterious guy at the back of the room. "It's a relief to hear that we have at least one good student in the classroom."

After the bell goes for first period, I walk out of the classroom and wait for this guy to walk out. As he does, he looks kind of taken aback to see me at the door. As he continues walking, I join in, walking next to him. "Hey," I say, looking up at him. Holy shit, he's tall. "I'm Valerie, welcome to Hell." I said, smiling.

"Thanks, Valerie," The boy said, looking down at me. "I'm Ethan. Nice to meet you."

"Yeah. Nice to meet you too."

Period 5 came around after what seemed like literally a century. I grabbed my geography books from my locker to see Ethan already walking to class. I don't know what made me decide to, but I walked quickly enough to catch up with him. "Hey, Valerie," Ethan said, looking at me. I noticed he started to walk slower.

"Hey Ethan." I responded looking back. "How're you liking this wonderful place?"

"Yeah, it's actually not too bad. I've made a couple of friends, they seem kinda cool." Ethan says, nodding.

"Oh, that's good," I said. "What're their names?"

"Well, there's you, Jason, Matt, Jordyn," When he said that word, my heart dropped. Not Jordyn. Anyone but Jordyn. "... Valerie?"

"Huh?" I say, flinching. "Oh. Oh right, yeah. Nice." I say, laughing nervously. Our conversations were as dry as the Sahara Deserts but all I could focus on was Jordyn.

When we reached the classroom, the bell went. Shit. I don't think we're late, right? Miss. Kendall looks at us as we enter the room, the rest of the class already seated. "It's about time you two showed up," Miss Kendall said. "The class has been sitting here waiting for 5 minutes. Take a seat, both of you."

Ethan and I give each other a look and walk to the middle row. I place my books on a random desk and next to me was the last person I wanted to see. Fucking. Jordyn.

I roll my eyes, knowing I can't move now. I'll be fine though, Ethan's next to me, not her.

Wait, why am I even feeling jealous? I don't even like him like that.

Miss Kendall adjusted her glasses and started talking about some stuff about geography that I honestly don't think I'll ever use. Ethan let out a heavy sigh, signalling how bored he was. Carefully eyeing the front of the room to make sure Miss Kendall was writing on the board, I slowly teared a small bit of paper from my book:

You as bored as I am?

I slide the piece of paper from the table onto my hand and quickly put it on his desk. I see him look at me, smile a bit, and start writing something on the other side. I looked at his desk from the corner of my eye and he returned the slip of paper:
