IV. Adventures in the dark

friday, 7:22pm

"Are you shitting me?" I yelled, looking at my phone. Chloe just cancelled on our movie tonight, like she always does. I sighed, typing a reply.

aw ok, another time

Yeah, another time as in maybe 2 years if we're lucky. Seeing as I have nothing to do tonight now, I sit on my bed and get all the millions of folders out of my bag. Time to get started on this homework. As I took in a deep breath, I put on the song 'Please Notice'. Damn, I wish this song was longer. I let the deep breath go and picked up my pencil. But before I could get started, I felt my phone buzz. Maybe it's Chloe saying she can come tonight? Looking at my phone though, it was definitely not Chloe.

ethandolan: Hey wyd tonight?

valeriegr33n: nothing now, my friend just cancelled, hbu?

ethandolan: Same here, nothing

I looked at my phone for a moment, waiting for him to say something else.

ethandolan: You up for an adventure?

I smiled.

friday, 8:00pm

"Bye mum, I'm going out!" I yelled, walking out the door.

"Valerie, you didn't ask me!" I hear her voice say back from the backyard porch. I shut the door, hoping she won't be mad when I get back.

Damn, my outfits pretty cute tonight. Well, obviously I had to be cute because I'm seeing Ethan. Oh my god, Ethan Dolan asked me to see him!

I make my way over to the park, where he said he'd meet me at 8:15. It only takes me 10 minutes to walk there, but I didn't want to be late. I put my freezing hands in the pocket of my jumper, breathing in the cold fresh air. I crossed the road, looking at the lights of the city. I smiled, tilting my head. LA can be so beautiful.

10 minutes later I walk into the park. The tall trees tower over me, casting shadows on the gravel due to the street lights shining bright. Looking at the playground, I'm the only one here. It's pretty tempting to go on the playground and act like I'm 7 again, but Ethan will be here at any moment. "You thinking what I'm thinking?" I hear a masculine voice from behind me. I quickly turn around.

There he is, looking at the playground. He looked down at me and smiled. He's wearing an orange hoodie with some black trackies. "Race you there" I smirk. I turn around and start running to the playground. "Hey! Not fair!" I hear Ethan yelling from behind me. I giggle.

I climb up the rock wall and swivel around on my feet. But I can't see Ethan. I start walking around the different platforms to see him on a silver rocket ship next to the playground. "Cmon, you're gonna miss the countdown!" He says, waving his hand signalling me to come over. I run down the stairs and climb onto the rocket ship. "10, 9, 8..." we count down together, laughing. "3, 2, 1, blastoff!!" We shout, rocking our bodies pretending that the rocket ship is actually moving. We both burst into laughter.
