Now you've got a sigil...What to do with it?

CAST IT IN THE BLAZE OF COURSE!!!!

Well, hang on - That's one way to do it. After you've drawn a sigil, you're going to want to charge it and release that intent to begin altering energies. Long story short- you put the initial charging energy into it by making it, now ya gotta turn on the switch.

  Elemental Destruction-

Or, how to burn down your house. One way to 'turn on' your sigil, especially if it's a simple, one-use sigil, is to destroy it in the elements.

Fire - Burn it, of course. If that's not possible, burn it as much as possible then discard. If that's not safe(such as in the case of Styrofoam), then run it over/through a flame and quickly discard it. Either way, the sigil will be reverse-charged as it's burned, absorbing the flame's energy and properties.

Water - Soak it until the surface it is on comes apart, or wash the sigil away with water depending on what it is made on with what. Also adapts the properties of the body of water that the sigil is destroyed within, and reverse-charges it with that body of water's properties.

Earth - Putting the sigil on something biodegradable (leaf, wood, loose flesh, cotton, etc) then bury it. This way a sigil takes on additional properties of the area, and similar to water, changes the area it's destroyed in.

Air - This is a tricky one. Normally smoke is used, charging a sigil by waving it through the smoke of burning incense, but that charges the sigil with properties of the incense as well. One method is to rip up the sigil, and cast it into the wind, though on a windless day that may need some help from a fan.

Spirit/Aether - Fog up a mirror, and write your sigil on said mirror, allowing it to fade into the surface. Alternatively, lemon juice on paper will work as well.  This is 'destroyed' in the sense that it is no longer visible, though it still charges as light (preferably natural) hits it and as one remembers it. Or rather it's existence.

  Elemental Preservation-

[*Teacher-san has the overwhelming urge to type 'perversion' instead, and quickly goes to cleanse their sins before returning] Ahem. Each of these has similar properties to their destructive counterparts, but are used to 'recharge' an item you want to use when needed as well.

Fire - Put the sigil close enough to a flame to absorb the heat, though not close enough to burn. Often used to charge charms as well.

Water - Ensure your sigil won't fall apart in water (for example, it's carved in wood) then soak it in a body of water.

Earth - One method is to charge a sigil by setting a crystal upon it, or setting it within a crystal grid. I personally tend to preserve the object in a preferably translucent, non-degradable substance, bury it for a while, then dig it back up when you need to use it.

Air - Wooo, this one's awesome! WIND CHIMES! I LOVE CHIMES! Ahem. Hang your sigil up in the air. Done. You can use a wind chime base to make a pretty neat sigil array that goes off each time it 'sings out' with the wind.

Spirit/Aether - Charging your sigil in day light, moon light, or cycles of both. Alternatively, you could use it as a vessel for a willing spirit or a servitor.

Alternative methods to charge sigils include, but are not limited to,

-Adding drops of blood onto a sigil, to charge it with...well, blood.
-Meditating on a sigil, then inflicting some form of pain onto yourself or having a friend harm you to abruptly break your meditation.
-Here's one not for kids! Focus/think of the sigil while screwing your partner (I feel...so sorry for you) or while screwing yourself, and being all euphoric will charge it up. Bonus energy from using the resulting fluids.
-If you've got a ton of emotion running through you, anger, sorrow, fear, you can force it into a sigil to charge it. Empaths can channel other people's feelings for this, or even 'steal' another person's emotions to charge their sigils. Advised for any empaths who have friends that stress out easily/have anxiety attacks, if you can handle the erratic energy.
-Sticking your sigil in a mirror box, which will catch ambient energy and constantly bounce it back and forth within itself, will act as an energy 'trap' and bounce it into your sigil to fill it up.
-Death. Don't kill anyone- Well I mean, unless you can get away with it legally like they're trying to kill you...but in general, don't kill anyone. Instead, lay your sigil on/by a grave, bury it in grave dirt (bought from an occult shop or carefully gathered from Donner-party style 'graves', where animals died and ended up 'buried' since human grave robbing is illegal. So greedy,  hoarding their bones, [*Teacher-san grumbles.])  or even bury it with an animal's body and recover it once the corpse is reduced to bone.
-Birth. No cradle robbing- What I mean by 'birth' is the fact that there's a lot of energy associated with birth. The intense energies of pain, to say the least,  and emotion, the fact a new body was effectively forged from nothing, a soul sucked into it, and the thing spat back out onto the material plane, and a ton of other deity revered stuff. Either having a sigil around during a birth, or simply getting a hold of something from/relating to the birth (such as the blanket the baby was swaddled in, if you don't want to deal with biojunk) to apply to your sigil.
-A common favorite, Raw Energy. This one's a bit tricky. Focus on the sigil and push your own energy, from your aura/soul/dinner, into it to energize it.  Alternatively, you can work out and use sweat, I've heard. DNA, Energy, and all of that into a liquidized state.
-Electricty? Digital witches may know this well - if you put a sigil under/on an item, like your phone, while it's on low battery and charge it, it will charge the sigil as well. May work with a sigil for the background, too?
-Raw energy part 2, Magick Boogaloo.  Keep the sigil on your person, like in a pocket or what have you, and life your life while thinking about the fact you have it every so often. It'll help charge it u

Notes-

If anyone would like to submit or inquire about another means to charge a sigil/charm/other magically-chargeable object, then feel free to however you feel comfortable. Just please do not ask me how to use a ghost to charge your phone. That's more trouble than it's worth.
