Eliza brushed her long bangs behind her ears as she looked at her phone.
Fuck! It is almost midnight...
She was getting nervous.
The sound of keys jingling at the front door made her jump. She rushed over to the door. Hearing her sister giggle on the other side of the door made the fear dissipate.
"Shh...the lights are still on...", another burst of giggles erupt from her sister.
Eliza peaked through the peephole and damn near reached through the door to pull a teenage boy off of her 14 year old sister. She blushed and looked away when the boy let out a throaty chuckle before kissing her sister on the neck. Claire closed her eyes and leaned on the front door, unaware that Eliza was on the other side.
She shook her head. Why am I blushing? Who does this perv think he is?!
Eliza flung open the door and watched as her sister falls backward in front of her. "Get the fuck inside! Right. Now!"
Claire's face turned red as she jumped to her feet. "What?! You can't keep me from him! I love him!" Her voice was an almost wine as she linked her arm with the boy, who looked like he wanted to run away. Eliza's left eye twitched, "Whatever you say, Juliette, get your ass to bed and we will talk about this in the morning."
Claire rushed past Eliza and up the stairs leaving the boy alone with her sister.
"You", Eliza turned to the boy who jumped slightly at Eliza's harsh tone. Eliza folded her arms as she looked the boy up and down. "What is your name?"
"Jake." The boy's voice squeaked slightly.
"Well, Jake, my sister is only 15 years old. What I saw tonight will not be happening again. If you want to see my sister, that is fine, but I will need to know where you will be taking her. I will need to meet your parents, and I will need have a way to contact the you when you take her out. If I cannot reach you, I will call the cops." Eliza looked at Jake's face as the blood drained from it.
"Did you know she was 15?"
Jake moved, "yes, ma'am." He nodded. "I am 16."
Eliza bit her cheek to keep from smiling. Poor kid...
"When can I meet your parents, Jake?" She pulled out her phone and handed her phone to the boy. "Put your favorite parent's number in there. Tell them to expect a call from me in the morning to set up a meeting."
Jake smiled and took the phone and put in his mom's number. He gave Eliza her phone back. "It's just my mom and me. Pops left when I was still in diapers."
Eliza looked down for a few seconds. The loss of her parents still stung. She smiled at him and took his hand into hers and shook it. "I can understand what that is like. As long as you treat my sister with respect, and have her back at an agreed time, then you are more than welcome to see her."
"I'll go ahead and tell my mom to look for your call tomorrow. Sorry about tonight. That won't happen again."
She felt herself soften to Jake and let down her boss-bitch guard a little. "I appreciate that. Talk to you more later." She walked back inside and locked the door, looking up to her sister who was sitting at the top of the stairs with tears running down her face.
Claire runs down to Eliza and pulls her into a hug. "I'm sorry I scared you."
Eliza runs her hand over her sister's hair, "It is ok, but don't let it happen again." She and Claire share a chuckle. She managed to sound like their mom.
She let go of Claire first and then looked down at her sister. "How long have you been seeing Jake?"
Claire began biting her nails as she spoke. "About 4 months."
Eliza's right eyebrow shot up and she tried to keep from yelling at her sister. Instead, she closed her eyes and walked over to the kitchen. "Why did you keep it from me?"
"Cuz, you were dealing with stuff at work. I'm sorry about keeping it from you."
Claire followed her sister and watched in silence as she made her drink.
Eliza took a sip of her whiskey and shook her head. "No...you shouldn't have had to keep it from me. But, you need to knock it off with blowing up at me like that. Keep it up and Jake will run away. Yelling girls ain't cute. Trust me..."
Claire snickered, "Yeah...I've seen you dumped before because of it."
"So, I know what I'm talking about." Eliza put the cool glass against her right cheek. "Go to bed. Get up on time. I'll meet with Jake's mom and then you two can have a few dates a month. So long as Jake's mom and I talk about it first."
Claire blew her sister a kiss and walked out of the kitchen. "Night, Super Woman. Love you."
Eliza grinned as she tried to keep from getting emotional. "Love you too, Baby Brat."
She missed this part of being a sister. The banter and the late-night chats about boys. Maybe things will get back to some sort of normal soon.

Welp...It took a while but here is a new chapter. I know not a lot happened but I am trying to get my muse up from the lazy chair and moving around again.
