Characters

The first, and absolute most crucial step, is your characters.

This is a fine art, and shall not be taked for granted, so here, is how to write your characters so your story will be as successful as possible.

And I know what you're thinking, "Isn't plot the most important step?"

But no I tell you! Plot is secondary, at least, to these kinds of stories. This is the most important step, as the story shall revolve around these characters. So...

Main character #1:

This character will be our main, main character that the book is mainly focused on, and to maximise success on this page, will need to be a girl, preferably in high school, college if you're feeling adventurous. She should be a totally "average" person, and absolutely beautiful, but so damn humble that she doesn't even realize that she is too stunning for living on this planet, and only our second main character will realize this.

(She can be "ugly" at the start of the book, but make sure she's ridiculously attractive at the end of it.)

Her character description shouldn't be too hard to make, just make her a cardboard cutout with the face of some beautiful celebrity you know, give her a quirk (like drawing, video games, etc), maybe two if you're up for a challenge.

Just make sure she's as god damn bland and boring as possible, maybe a bit dumber than what should be allowed for a person to be, but she's so witty, quirky and "special" that your readers won't even notice her glaring stupidity!

Even if she's supposed to do academically well?

Wait, what...

Anyway, on the topic of her wittiness, make sure she hates attention and realistically never would talk back to a stranger or figure of authority, but does so anyway because it's 'goals', and soooo 'relatable'.

Also, make sure she's a virgin and has never been with someone before, and also, make sure that she's pretty unpopular, because everyone likes an underdog story.

The most important part though: make sure that she's exactly the same as she was in the beginning of the story, because character development is too boring and takes too much time. Just make her learn a lesson in the climax of the story, to give the illusion that she's evolved as a person.

Main character #2:

Now, this is arguably the most important character, because this is the person our main protagonist will inevatibly fall in love with, even though he's the most terrible person to walk our green earth.

He has to be a guy, at least to maximize success, and that's what you're looking for, or you wouldn't be reading this.

His appearance is simple:

Every girls wet dream ever.

Muscles, (even though he probably doesn't work out. He may once or twice so the reader can have something to fawn over, but let's not go overboard), sparkling eyes, luscious hair, deep voice. You know the drill, it's simple really.

His personality is probably even easier:

He's gonna be this fairly mysterious (the more mysterious, the better), popular "badboy", who's slept with numerous chicks, is a douche, somehow incredibly charming despite that, and magically changes his way to become completely devout to our main character who ignores any advances of every single female who of course flirts with him, simply  because he's Adonis reincarnated.

A bullet-point list that should be followed, but are optional:

- One of the characters, (preferably our bad-boy,) needs to be super rich, even though it's not realistic what-so-ever. One of the characters can be poor, but one has to be rich. Because if they both doesn't have money, it's a tragedy, not a romance. Just see 50 shitty shades of grey.

- Our bad-boy main character drives an expensive vehicle, car or motorcycle. Bonus points for both!

- Bonus points if your main girl protagonist is clumsy and awkward. Bonus, bonus points if your guy protagonist is secretly super smart and does well academically.

-Another round of bonus points if either of them have a tragic family situation, whom or what is up to you, go wild! But not too wild, we don't want to accidentally make something revolutionary. This is a teen-fiction story, remember?

- If you're feeling really adventurous and brave, and aren't just looking to make a succesful story that *all* teenage girls can relate to, make it an lgbt love story to apply to all other teenage girls! It may sound complicated, but it's really not. Just genderbend one of our wonderful mains to fit your needs and keep all existing character traits. It's fascinating how well this actually works.

Important side characters:

Both characters should have their own friend circles that never interact with the other. How? High school and stuff.

How they are as people isn't too important, they're just side characters, and we don't want to give them more depth than our mains. So, as said, it doesn't really matter, just make sure to not forget them, as this is the perfect opportunity to either A. Have one or more of the friends lgbt to seem progressive, or B. To ship one of the girl protagonists friend with one of the guy protagonists friend.

And do not dare forget the bitchy cheerleader character, that is undeniably attractive and beautiful, and unrealistically hates your female main. Bonus points if she's slept with your male main. This character is important to create some juciy drama and drive forward the story's main conflict, and that our female protagonist can outbitch when she inevitably ends up with our male protagonist.

~~~~~~
Now, this is all you need to know to create your main characters, more isn't really needed to know, as none of them shall have especially much depth.
Up next, "plot".
