The purple mare sat at her niece's desk and tapped her hoof. Pulling up a book, she began to hum as her niece dialed a number on the phone.
"You really couldn't wait until tomorrow?" A voice said through the speaker.
"What if the world ended tomorrow? You never know!" The grey filly yelled through the phone and giggled. She twirled the cord around her hoof.
"Just... tell me if we have some sort of meeting and I'll be there." August said, sighing.
"Alright! Maybe we can meet somewhere like..... Ooh! The library! That's a pretty cool place!" Puremoon said.
"Okay, then. The meeting's ready to go. How 'bout next Friday?"
"That's perfect!" She yelled.Friday had just come around, and Puremoon was ready. She had trotted up to the library and sat down at the table right in the middle of the room. August was already sitting at the end of the table with a large book. He was very concentrated, and had only looked up to turn the page, not noticing Puremoon, and startled himself.
"So, ya ready for the meeting?" Puremoon asked in a gleeful voice.
"Uhh.....sure. What exactly is this group gonna be about anyways? I'm kind of excited." August asked. A smile slowly formed on his face.
"Wait a sec. I thought you only joined because I'd leave you alone!" She said a little too loud, forgetting she was in a library. She put her hoof on the table.
"Well, you trying to tell me it was the end of the world-" He almost finished his sentence, when a pink filly interrupted the sentence.
"Are you serious?! End of the world?" She gasped.
"Um, excuse me, Miss. We were having a conversation." Puremoon mimped and snickered.
"But what he just said was crazy! What are you guys even doing anyways?" The pink filly bumped in again and banged her hooves on the table, losing the spot in her book and the beanie in her navy blue hair.
August sighed. "Just join the club." His eye twitched and one of his back hooves tapped on the brightly colored rug. The young filly gasped and her already wide eyes got wider.
"What do we do in the club? Do I get a cool name, like Fizzthor? I've always wanted the name!"
"Woah, whoa, whoa. Slow down. First, tell me who you are and why you can help us save the world." Puremoon stopped the filly.
"Well, my names Fiona, but everyone calls me Fizzy, so call me that. I'm awesome in clubs. I'm in math club, art club, book club, comic-" A hoof was put to her mouth.
"Tell me why you should join the club." August spoke with his teeth clenched together.
"Well...... I'm great at distracting people! If we ever need a distraction, I can just do this!" She pulled a tiny doll out of the pocket of her hoodie.
"A doll isn't gonna-- Ow!" Puremoon was just about to finish her sentence when the doll kicked her in the cheek. Fizzy giggled and covered her mouth with her hoof.
"That's amazing! Where did you even get it?" August gasped and tapped the plush toy on the head.
"That's not important. Now do I get to save the world or no?" Fizzy smirked and put her muzzle up.
"Yep. I think you've got a spot in our crew. Welcome to...... Hmmmm..... The...." Puremoon had started to welcome the newest member of the crew, yet didn't have a name for the actual crew itself. "The..... Night.... Trail?"
"Yeah! Welcome to The Night Trail!" Gloria yelled and put her hoof in the air. Fizzy giggled and put her head on the desk.
"Anyone else in this Night Trail I should know about?" Fizzy asked.
Gloria slumped down in her chair a bit. "Nope. Just us." She groaned.
"Or at least, for now.
