The Royal Vampire Who Went Against Tradition

Chapter 1

I'll start off with saying a little bit about who I am shall I. My name is Sage Salvatore, I'm 17 years old, and I'm a vampire. My family is well known to all of my kind as we are like royalty, the strongest ranking family, but there are other ranked families, there are 5 main ranked families and the Salvatore's ranked 1st.

My day started the same as always, I got up, I got ready, then headed off to school. The school I go to is a mix between humans and vampires, the only thing is that the humans don't know that there are more vampires than they think. We don't voice it out loud that we're vampires but we don't try very hard to hide it either.

The principle of the school knows that there are vampires there as he let them into the school so vampires and human could mix and mingle, but us vampires can't harm them in anyway as that would be breaking the rules of the school and would be thrown out of school. 

I've had that problem lots of times, it's just those times I was going to schools with only humans in it and when they found out I was a vampire they threw me out instantly and my family had to find me another school. That went on for ages until this school opened where vampires and humans could go as long as we didn't do anything to them, but not all vampires follow the rules, but some don't get caught.

I've been at this school for 4 years now and I haven't done anything to any human being but that is simply explained as I don't go near any human unless I have to go near them for example class activities. Otherwise I don't talk to them, or even try to make friends with them. It's not that I don't want to be friends with them, or that I don't like them in general, it's just that I'm scared that if they get too close to me I could hurt them. 

I'm not quite like other vampires, they get control over their urges for blood when their younger but I still have trouble with mine, so I don't go near any human being if I can help it just so they don't get hurt like the last time I got near a couple human beings...

I still remember that time clearly, where I felt the life of the two new human friends I had made slip through my fingers, I was only 8 when it happened. And ever since with anyone that found out I was a vampire, they call me a monster.

One rule at this school is never attack a human student on the school grounds or you're out. And I swear I didn't know what was going to happen.

Present time

I woke up late! Mum didn't wake me up before her and dad left, so I'm now currently rushing around getting everything ready for school. By the time I was halfway to school I just remembered that I didn't have anything for breakfast, which means I haven't consumed any blood this morning either which is bad, I get really bad if I haven't had any.

But I don't bother too much about it as I should be fine as I don't interact with others anyway, well other than my friend who is also a vampire from the 2nd ranked family. We're best, best, best friends.

I lasted through the start of the day, but when it gets to lunch time I start not feeling well. As soon as the bell rings I was out the door with my bag and heading to a spot where not many people go so there was a less chance of me hurting anyone. I smacked into one of the trees that were in the area holding my throat as it felt like it was on fire at the moment. Then I heard a heartbeat closer than the rest and it was moving closer toward me.

I got off the tree and moved further away from the school hoping whoever that was wasn't stupid enough to follow this way too. But that was wishful thinking...

I stop at a point because I couldn't go any further because I wasn't allowed to and because I physically couldn't handle it at that point.

"Hey, are you alright?", it was a man's voice, he should just leave me, he should just get the idea that no normal human being would be doing anything that I am doing right now.

Before I could stop my body I moved extremely fast and I pinned the boy to the ground, my eyes changed to red from my normal bright blue eyes and my fangs slid free.

"You're what other people call monster", I froze at those words, my eyes changed back to blue and my fangs disappeared and my canines went back to normal. Monster... I'm a monster...

I looked at him a minute before I remembered I was holding him down to the ground, I got off of him immediately and started to walk away. I had to leave before I took another innocent life, I won't go through that again.

"Wait.. What are you doing? Where are you going?", the man was still following me as I walked to the office to sign out. If he goes to the principle then I'm toast, he'll throw me out instantly. But I didn't care, not right now at least. My main priority is getting home now.

I signed out of school for the day and got to the front gate, the man followed me all the way there and stopped when I stopped. I turned to face him and look him in the eye.

"Go back to class, you don't want to tangle with me. As you saw I'm a monster as you said, I'm dangerous so it's best you keep your distance from me. Bye", my voice was flat and sounded dead.

"I didn't mean what I said about you being a monster", he didn't move any closer to me as he spoke.

"It's doesn't matter if you didn't mean it, I know other people that mean it every time they say it to me. It doesn't matter to me if it's one person that says it, or 50, it all hurts the same", I didn't let him speak again as I walked away and headed for my house.
