For the week or two after that we started talking a lot more and even started hanging out at school and out of school too, even my friend Tobias Whitethorn became friends with Nathan and us three would hang out almost everyday. A lot of people started talking about us as we would walk passed them in the halls, and even the people outside were saying things as I could hear them with my enhanced hearing.
The bell rang, me and Nathan had different classes so I was on my way over to where his class was when I got surrounded by like 3 guys in the courtyard, and they seemed like the cocky type, full of themselves.
Their mouths were moving but I couldn't hear what they were saying. I don't know how long we all stood there while they were trying to talk to me until I heard a familiar voice that I had grown to like hearing so much.
"Leave her alone. She doesn't need all of you surrounding her like that. Just leave her alone", Nathan tried to tell them to go away but they didn't move an inch.
"You can't say things for her. You're not her boyfriend. How about you just go and leave us to look after little Sage here", the middle man smirked in Nathan's direction, just the way he was talking about me was pissing me off but I didn't do anything.
"You know I meant now", but Nathan didn't leave, instead he moved toward me and before I could process it his lips were on mine right in front of those 3 guys, and like the rest of the whole school could see us.
My eyes went wide with shock, and then I realized something while he kissed me. The whole reason I've changed a bit, and why I've been having weird feelings for the past few weeks was because of him, was because I feel the same way towards him as he does me. I love him.
I started to kiss him back and I could feel Nathan's shock when I did, even he was shocked I was kissing him back. He pulled back slowly and looked at the other 3 guys beside us who saw everything up close.
"I said leave Sage alone. You know I meant now right? Scram", he didn't stay looking at them long as they started walking away from us, his eyes fell on mine.
"What's wrong? Your face is all red"
"Why wouldn't it be?! You just kissed me in front of like the whole school. From here if you're in a classroom then they could see us. Maybe not as clear or close as those 3 guys, but they still could see us. And I can see quite a few faces looking at us", he turned around and saw what I was seeing.
"Oh I see what you mean. This way", then he pulled me away from where we were standing and we headed to the normal place we go to eat our lunch.
When we got there he turned to look at me and was about to say something but he stopped himself for a second, then he looked me in the eye.
"You kissed me back when I kissed you before. Please tell me if I'm getting the wrong idea before I get my hopes up too much", he didn't move from where he stood looking at me waiting for me to answer him.
"You're not getting your hopes up", this was the first time I've said this and felt this towards someone. When I had spoken Nathan's eyes widen as if he couldn't believe what I was saying, like it was a dream. Then his facial features went serious again.
"Would you be mine, if I asked?", I slowly nodded my head as my answer and a big smile spread across Nathan's face.
"But I have to warn you there will be hard decisions in the future, and I just want you to know what you're getting yourself into", he hugged me gently.
"Then we'll face it together" I hugged him back.
Then we sat down and ate our lunch. When the bell rung for next class we both headed into the main building and Nathan walked me to class, as we were walking past people they were whispering about us.
Even after he had dropped me off at my class and headed off to his own, they kept talking and whispering about what happened at lunch, not believing that someone like me would get kissed by someone out of the blue.
During class my phone vibrated in my pocket, I pulled it out and looked at the message, and it was from my mother. Telling me my grandparents (her parents) are at our house, and they know that I attacked someone... The only person I told was my mother, how did they know?! I texted back something.
"Hey mum, I have something to tell you and for you to keep it to yourself", she texted me back a "Yes".
"I'm dating a human...", there was a pause before I got a text back.
"That's good but bad in the same way... And sorry to say, she knows that too somehow...", Shit... How the hell does she know all of this?! But more importantly I'm in some deep shit when I get home... Do I have to go home...? With just hearing she's at home I know I won't be seeing this place for a few days at least after today...
When the day ended Nathan found me and was wanting to walk with me to my house.
"That's not a very wise idea, it won't end very well if you do walk me home. But once I get home I have a very good feeling we won't see each other, but I can try and text or call you when I can. But don't worry about me", I smile at him and hug him, he tried to ask questions and protest what I had just said but I didn't let him. I looked at him and shook my head at him when he was about to say something to me.
"I'll talk to you later", he just sighed and nodded not fully understanding what I was telling him anyway.
I texted my mother saying I wasn't going straight home, and to see if she could make up some excuse for me. As I wasn't going to give up my freedom that easily. She just sent back a text saying that she understood and that she'll see me later.
I stayed out till about an hour or two after dark and by the time I get home everyone has already eaten dinner which was fine with me, I didn't expect them to wait for me to get home for them to eat dinner. My dinner was left in the warming draw of the oven, so I walked into the kitchen and was about to open the draw to get my dinner out of it when I heard a voice break through the darkness.
"What made you think you were allowed to stay out till after dark? I had told your mother to tell you to come home.", my grandmother's voice rang in my ears.
"I told her I was going to be out late and she said that was fine.", she just made a 'tsk' sound over and over again.
"Either way, I hope that was satisfying for you as you're not going to be leaving the house as you are grounded. First, a Salvatore does not bite a human forcefully. Second, the Salvatore's don't date a human as they find a pure blood vampire as their partner. It's tradition and I don't plan on changing it now", she's so bossy and naggy...
"I don't care what you say about Nathan... I'm going to date him whether you say yes or no. The only people I need to approve of my relationship is my mother and my father. Not you or our ancestors and their traditions", she slapped me...
Before I could register what she did, my cheek started to hurt and sting from the pain in my right cheek. She slapped me for nothing, everything I said was the truth so it wasn't like I was lying to her face or anything like that. This is why I hate tradition sometimes...
However long I'm going to be trapped in this place is going to be hell.
