The Royal Vampire Who Went Against Tradition

Chapter 5

When I woke up the next morning Nathan was already awake just lying there playing with my hair while I slept. I moved to sit up and he stopped.

"Good morning. How are you feeling?", he sat up beside me as well.

"I'm better now after an actual nights sleep", I was about to turn my head to look at him when my door opened and my head snapped up to see who was there. Grandmother. Shit. She looked at me, then to Nathan who was beside me under my bed covers.

"What the hell is going on?! Who the hell are you?!", she was staring at Nathan.

"Um emotional support", my mother walked up behind my grandmother and laughed a little bit at Nathan's comment.

Grandmother obviously didn't like that comment because I swear her face was slightly turning red out of anger. Even though everyone could see grandmother was angry, Nathan decided to speak anyway.

"Not good enough?...", he turned his head towards me. 

"You got anything to add to this? I obviously haven't made it any better", I just sigh.

"There is no real point hiding it I guess, even though I would've thought you would've already known seen as you knew other things which I had only told my mother. This is Nathan, the man I am dating", grandmother started fuming...

"This is that human?! You choose him over a pure blood?! This is ridiculous, a pure blood would be better suited to you!", I had, had enough of this pure blood crap, and all the shit about how they would be better for me. I want to be with Nathan and she is not going to get in the way of that. It was just making me angry, and the level of angry that I'm at is higher than I've ever been before...

"And you what?! I don't give a flying fuck about any pure bloods. I'm going to be with Nathan and I don't care what you say about it, if you have a problem then you'll have to go through me first! Let's see who would win, a teenager with an anger problem, or an old lady who's been alive for god knows how long", I had gotten out of bed and my fists were clenched so hard there was a dripping sound, my mother looked at my hands and saw my blood slowly dripping onto the floor.

"Hunny calm down. Open your fists please", I look towards my mother and my eyes had changed colour to a bright red colour. I looked at her then at my fists and the blood that was running off my hands onto the ground. I slowly open my hands and looked back at my mother and my eyes slowly changed back to my normal bright blue colour.

"I'm sorry...", my mother took my hands in hers and smiled.

"It's ok. It's not your fault", my grandmother spoke with a scary amount of calm in her voice.

"Are you serious about this guy?", I look over to her and nod my head.

"You know what will have to happen if you stay with him, don't you? Are you willing to do that to a simple human?", my eyes drop to the ground for a second, then back up to meet her eyes again.

"I will let him decide. He will be informed and I will let him choose where his heart lies. If he changes his mind then I will do what you want and find a pure blood, but only after he has told me himself what he wants to do", my grandmother just looked at me for a moment then nodded at me, then looked at Nathan.

"You young man have a very important decision ahead of you. And you need to think it through properly and come to a decision that your heart agrees with too. And you need to make it fast, time is running out. Sage, you'll be seeing me again soon. Be ready for that. Until we meet again", then she walked out of the room and left.

I dropped to my knees and exhaled the breathe I didn't notice I was holding in.

"What was she talking about? What decision?", I froze and looked up to my mum and my dad that had arrived about the time grandmother had started talking to Nathan. Dad spoke in my stead.

"Come with me downstairs, I'll make it quick as I'm sure you'll have to get home soon anyway so you can get ready for school. Sage while me and your mother talk to Nathan you should get ready for school yourself. Grab your shirts Nathan", just in case he doesn't come back up which I would understand when he's about to be told that if he wants to be with me then his whole life pretty much has to change, just because of me...

If he wants to stay by my side, he will have to be turned into a vampire, which means giving up his normal human life.

I took 10 minutes having a shower and getting dressed, and by the time I went down stairs Nathan was already gone.

"He went home as soon as I had finished. Sorry hunny", I shook my head, I knew this was going to happen. Now he had to decide where his heart lies.

I went to school and Tobias came over to me.

"Where's Nathan? You two usually come into school together", right he doesn't know yet.

"He knows Tobias. So I don't think we'll see him for a bit while he processes"

"Oh, ok", he nodded and we both walked into school. The day went normally except for the fact Nathan wasn't with us the whole day.

The next week was like that too, and then the day I was almost dreading arrived... My birthday.

I arrive to school and Tobias walked over to me.

"Happy birthday Sage. Hope you have a great day", I look at him with a look he knows.

"Even if Nathan isn't there, I'll be with you if you want. Unless he picks today to tell you his decision." I sigh and walk to class with Tobias walking beside me.

"If it's fine with your parents, come and drink with me tonight. I can't promise we won't come to school tomorrow without a massive hangover."

"I'm sure that it'll be fine. My parents are usually fine with me going to your house, and as long as I can still do my school work I'll be good." I look at him with a small smirk.

"I can't promise that either", then I carry on to class.

The starting classes were a bit slow to begin with but over time they felt like they sped up.

The rest of the day went by quietly and I didn't see or talk to Nathan. On the way home me and Tobias stopped at his house so he could get a change of clothes cause he wasn't going home tonight as we will be drinking till we drop. Once he got that sorted we walked to my house.

Yesterday I told mum what I wanted to do and she agreed to supply the alcohol as long as it was alright with Tobias's parents, which was alright of course, they love me.

When we got to mine we put our things in my room and hung out in there talking till dinner was ready then we went down and eat dinner with my parents. After dinner was when we started drinking. There was a mixture of different alcohols, Bourbon, Whiskey, Rum, etc.

By the end of the night we had gone through pretty much all of it. I ended up falling asleep on top of my bed on my stomach and Tobias fell asleep on the 3 seater couch in my room.
